We need funding to create a short film named "In Pieces". The film is a final university project based on a script I wrote in the previous semester. I will be directing this piece in collaboration with my producer Max Watson. The funding will go towards cast, crew, catering, travel, props and more over our 3 day shoot. Necessities to make this film a reality. The minimum figure we are hoping to achieve is $1750, however we will strive to earn our intended target goal of $2500 for the benefit of the production.
The film starts in the wake of a breakup, where a confused boyfriend struggles to adjust and seeks the truth to why he was abandoned; he finds the answer in the darkest of places.
The main character is Radcliff, the son of a wealthy father, who has been hidden from the cruel realities of life since he was a child. So when his Girlfriend of 4 years Marlowe ends the relationship for no apparent reason, Radcliff struggles to deal with his heart break and seeks answers. Nearing the end of the journey, he finds the answers to why he was abandoned in a very dark place.
This film has strong themes. I must admit as both a director and writer, I tend to favour comedy rather than more serious genres. However I felt the need to make a film that highlights real issues, informs the audience about them and hopefully give them the skills to deal with the issues in real life.
The script focuses on both depression and thoughts of suicide. Throughout the film the signs of someone dealing with either of of these issues are provided, but you only realise this at the climactic ending. Ive written the script in a way where the ending will surprise even the most vigilant, this will make the audience members reflect on the film. They will notice the things they missed, they will understand what signs both depressed and suicidal people exert. I hope that through this, anyone who views the film may notice this behaviour of the people in there lives, and say something, ask if they are coping, ask if they are having the bad thoughts. This could let people know someone is there for them and in the best case scenario may even save a life.
Thank you, any support you can provide no matter how much is greatly appreciated.
Risks and challenges
At this point in production our main risks are securing professional talent, and funds for our project. With certain scenes and dialogue in our project, it requires adequate measures in place to ensure we're able to pull off dramatic scenes effectively.
Contrasting this though is our crew, with the experience we've garnered over three years of study including projects outside of university we're prepared to make a final product regardless of difficulties face along the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
