About this project
Why a book on THIS boxer?
Smokin Joe Frazier an Olympic Gold Medalist (1964), is also best known as one of 2 participants in the largest sporting event in the world at that time. “The Fight of the Century” had 300 million viewers worldwide. He was one of only two athletes, in any sport known in all 193 countries that make up Planet Earth. His fan base measures in the tens of millions and that’s only in the USA. When he died in November 2011 the media in almost every country in the world gave it heavy coverage. But it was all about Smokin Joe Frazier, the boxer. I was Joe's business and personal manager for the last 7 years and the world needs to know his inspirational and his legacy that he left behind.
This book is about Joe Frazier, the man.
A man whose insights and treatment of his fellow man in the ‘ring’ known as life made him the undisputed world champion in the way he interacted with people whether they were his friends, or fans. Joe was, from the 7 years I was his business/personal manager and friend, a truly “One-of-a Kind” , “Bigger than Life” character in the very best sense. This book is a look at Smokin Joe “behind the scenes” as expressed by his friends and fans.
In particular, this book reflects on his personality, humor, generosity, compassion, passions and intelligence told through the eyes, memories and stories of those who knew him well and those who were exposed to him on a more modest basis, but felt the impact personally of this Icon. Some are well-known celebrities, some friends and many simply his devoted fans.
Please help us raise funds to get this book launched so that Smokin' Joe Frazier can continue to inspire youth and so that his legacy lives on.
