Sarah Rassi is running out of options. She needs a bone marrow transplant and her only match on the registry is troubled war veteran, Peyton Sinclair. Can Peyton overcome his own battles with PTSD to step up and save Sarah's life? Her Unlikely Kin tells the story of two strangers, who by rare genetic chance, can offer each other new life.
Writer/Director: Ken Raimondi
Here are a few links to some projects I've worked in the past. I hope they can shed some light on my desire to tell this story as well as my competence as a story teller.
Synopsis: Two military journalists travel Afghanistan to tell the story of the counter insurgency. For 35 straight days, my photo journalist partner Nate and I, documented what we saw and uploaded it the very same day. It was a living project that gave near real time insight into what life was like in Afghanistan for both the Afghans and NATO partners.

Assistant Director - Jackie Raimondi
Jackie is my better half, both in life and my creative process. She will be helping me to make sure actors are in place and prepped and that the production area is safe and running smoothly.

Ok... That's nice and all... but where does the money go?
So when do you plan to shoot this thing?
Here's the production timeline:
November - December: Finish pre-production e.g. hold auditions, develop shooting script, scout locations etc.
January: Shoot Movie!
February - October: Post production e.g. logging footage, editing, color grading, scoring etc.
October - : Hit the Festival Circuit!
One last thing... Stretch Goal - $35,000
What's a stretch goal?
A stretch goal is like a little dream. What if I wanted to hire an editor, a foley artist, an art director, and send the finished master piece to all the festivals I wanted?
What would that cost me? I'd say about $35,000.
We need the $25k to make the film...$35k would make it better and offer me more opportunities to push the film on the festival circuit.

Risks and challenges
Filmmaking is a risky business. The biggest risk being...will it get the funding it needs to get the green light. One of the the reasons we chose Kickstarter as our crowd funding platform was because it's an all or nothing proposition. We don't get a dime unless we meet our minimum $25k budget. This protects you! You will know we have the money we need and that your money didn't go to a project that wasn't adequately funded.
This film is also my thesis film for the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Film program. That means it has to get done! Last but not least, this film will be used as a pitch film to help fund a feature length documentary I'm working on. All in all, there is a lot riding on the success of this film. One thing I learned in my time in the military, is that no matter what barriers creep up and slow you down, you must persevere and overcome them. I'm confident I can do that with whatever comes up with Her Unlikely Kin.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
