"Road Trip Earth- New Zealand" is the pilot episode in the Road Trip Earth travel series about two friends' epic quest for the endless highway.

No matter who we are, or where we live, we all share an instinct, a sense, a predestination to explore.

Life. The endless road.

Originally from opposite sides of the U.S., we met in high school in St. Augustine, FL. Since childhood we shared a deep desire to explore, to see the world, and meet its people. We have always been passionate about driving great distances and have logged many hours together trekking the globe. We have seen many things… Met many people.

So here we are…

Collaborating from opposite sides of the world, our paths crossing again…
A new adventure. For many years our goal has been to put together a pilot episode for a documentary series we are calling Road Trip Earth.

Every adventure begins with a first step. What is ours?

For two to three weeks in February 2011 we will be burning miles by air, land, and sea through the extraordinary land of New Zealand. An exploration of paradise, its land, its culture, and its people.

From the top of the South Island we will explore the exotic beaches of Abel Tasman National Park and the delicate ecosystem of the Marlborough Sounds.

After driving south along the rugged coastlines and glacial mountain ranges to Mt. Cook, the highest peak of the majestic Southern Alps our incredible journey will climax in the awe- inspiring world of Fiordland National Park, on the southwest coast. In a country with a culture as diverse as its landscape there is always something spectacular just around the bend…

We will be accompanied by our Director of Photography and old travel companion Chad Heird. Having worked and traveled together before, Chad will bring his point of view and expertise to
visualize our locations and experiences.

We need your help to cover expenses consisting of camera gear, charter boat fuel, equipment costs, a helicopter flight, and other production essentials. Shot on location, the pilot episode will capture New Zealand's exotic landscapes and peoples in high definition. We believe that the mix of the these diverse ecosystems and local cultures will capture the viewers’ imagination and reflect the spirit and aspiration of the Road Trip Earth series.

Upon completion of the New Zealand pilot episode, our focus will be on a larger more epic road trip that has been more than a decade in the making. We are calling this chapter, “Pan-America”. The trip will take us from northern most Alaska south, along the Pan-American Highway, to the southern tip of South America in Ushuaia.

The inspiration for this endeavor is simply to realize a quest for the endless highway. In an ideal world we would drive forever in one direction and discover new places and people with each mile that passes and revel in the freedom and independence of being a self contained unit in motion around the globe. We want to share this with the world, the dreams of adventure, the passion for travel, ultimate freedom and the discovery of that endless highway.

This is the journey.

So buckle up- Because this is the ULTIMATE road trip- this is Road Trip Earth!
