357 Boxes of Minis stuck in China :( *Photos included*

Posted by Wesley Marshall (Creator)

Sorry guys :(

I am really disappointed to have to to tell you I have just found out that the Minis didn't make it out of China before the Chinese New Year Holidays.

We are so disappointed we have missed the January estimate by some way. We have worked tirelessly to get the Minis to our backers as quickly as possible. We know you must be disappointed too.

I could blame others but ultimately it's my responsibility to make sure things happen as they should so.....

Maybe with hindsight we were over optimistic with the January estimate but it didn't seem like it at the time?! We will do everything we can to speed things up after the holidays finish. We will update again ASAP.

We would like to thank all of you who have been so patient. We are sure you will be delighted with the Mini when it does arrive.

When your order leaves the hub you will have an individual tracking reference.

Best regards and apologies again,

Wes & Team necksaviour

Thanks for your honesty and for putting in the effort of keeping your backers up to date. Having backed a few projects I can honestly say that this is a minor hiccup. All the best mate! Looking forward to this helping me out with my headaches!

I work for an importer and most of our products comes from China, so no surprise about this delay. At my work, I think our last containers got shipped out last Saturday (Feb 10) and most factories have been closed since Wednesday. Some are back to work next week but most are only back later. So i’m guessing we’ll see our Mini by the end of March in the best case scenario but most probably in April. Thanks for the update!

Chinese new year n early October (China independence day) is not a good time to get stuff out from China....long holidays for the Chinese..

I did not get the adress survey so can you please send them out again to the people who has not filled them in!?

Thanks for keeping us posted! Can't tell you how much I appreciate it after getting burned by quite a few campaigns haha. It's all part of the process I know but again-you being upfront with everyone makes a HUGE difference. Can't wait to get these, they look awesome! :)

At least you guys keep us updated and in an honest way. Since I can see there are products in boxes ready to ship, I have confidence of my Necksaviour getting to me at some point. Not all campaigns do even that.

How do we know if we are one of the 7% whose details you apparently don’t have yet? I know I filled in the info survey but please let me know if there were more details I was supposed to give or you did not get my response.

Please be aware that with many Chinese companies there may be a complete turnover of people and/or job responsibilities after the New Year break. So you may think things will start right back up as they might when you return from a vacation. In my experience, it takes a couple of weeks for stuff to start rolling again.

      Be patient with yourselves...

    16. Michael Blackwell

LOL - I've been waiting on some rewards for 18 months, and we've not even seen any evidence of a final product. Most campaigns run late because these are first run products with creators unfamiliar with the process.

Your delay is pretty minor and as others have said you're being transparent and upfront.

All good in the scheme of things :]

    17. Cindy Compton

It’s all good Wes. At least you’re letting backers know.
For those who say they’ve never heard of this, Chinese New Year and Lunar New Year are huge national holidays. I’ve worked with companies who had products manufactured there, and we learned over time to stop expecting anything for about 5 weeks (a few days before and after and roughly three weeks for the holiday itself).
I appreciate Wes letting us know. Other projects will sometimes go radio silent and no one knows what is happening. My aching neck will be very happy to get it, but at least I know I *will* get it.

I was unaware that EVERYTHING shutdown for like a whole week for this spring festival/New Year's thing until I had a vendor from another site mention it. must be nice :p no worries! It'll get here soon enough. Thanks.

    20. Chris Kitchen

Happy to have my ten necksaviour minis, when the Chinese finish enjoying themselves! Thanks for all your effort thus far, can’t wait, and neither can my patients!!

    21. Lisa Galligan on

Disappointing but it is what it is. So are they ready to ship then as soon as the country awakes from its celebration shut down or do more still need to be made as well?

    22. Missing avatar

If you work with Chinese businesses, whether it's transportation, manufacturing or whatever, then the New Year delay should not surprise you. It's unfortunate but there's nothing we can do.

If anything, at least the creators gave us an update and are transparent about it. Pretty much all KS campaigns have delays anyways, at least we're not getting the silent treatment on this one.

    23. Dr reef on

      *delays! Not deals sorry.

    24. Half-Pint-Hero -> Peter ;-)

      And the colour is???

    25. Dr reef on

Superb update, and amazing to see your incredible project is full throttle. Deals....? That’s pretty normal for Kickstarter projects, not the end of the world. The logistics side of any project is actually the hardest part. I look forward to receiving my pledge when you guys ready. ❤️

      Oliver Wenner on

@ Carl I'm relaxed😋. But every project I was part of is delayed if it was done in China. Everybody knows it but nobody cares. It seems that's part of a project. It's cheaper so delays are no problem 😉

    27. Chris Weilemann on

Transparency and honesty is what's important here. Thanks for the update.

    28. hakoMike on

I always thought your timeline was a little aggressive, tbh. This is fine. Just getting this pushed from concept to fulfillment is a huge accomplishment.

      Hi hi !

      I don't mind waiting a little longer, it's okay. :)
      Thanks for the update!

Oh and while I'm here, just want to mention this is the Lunar New Year ; not only Chinese people are celebrating :)

Cheers, and thanks for the good work!
Hope it will really ease my neck aches!

    30. Darren Bush on

Anyone who does business in the orient knows that the Chinese New Year shuts down the country for two weeks. Backers, be patient. I've worked on the import side, and to be honest, Chinese manufacturers are very optimistic about delivery times to the point of downright deception.

I have no skin in this argument; I am a backer and I'm sympathetic to the "excuse." It sucks, but it's part of working in China. My guess is that Wes will learn from this experience and take promises for delivery times with a huge grain of salt.

    31. Missing avatar

      Shannon Porter on

Doing a little research, it appears the Chinese New Year celebrations last about 23 days...... is that looking like the actual timeline for you guys?

    32. Carl Schooley on

Oliver, having backed countless projects in the past - I have to say that I have never heard this "excuse"! This is not a long delay whatsoever by Kickstarter standards. Relax - you don't want to tense up before it arrives ;-)
