About this project
About the Film
Good Grief is set in 1904, out in rural west Texas. The story follows two brothers, Ernie and Lester, who are on a journey to deliver their father's casket to its gravesite. The younger mindless brother, Ernie, can never seem to do things right, while his older brother, Lester, just wants the trip to be over.
About the Production
Good Grief is a short film made by student filmmakers in the Advanced Film Production class at the University of North Texas. This will be the first semester the class will shoot on the Red Scarlet Digital Cinema Camera, which shoots at a beautiful 4K resolution. We're also very excited to be partnered with the Advanced Audio class at UNT, who will be creating the sound for our film. We have some amazing locations in Graham, Texas, with over 400 acres of land available to film on.

How the Money Will be Used
The funds we are hoping to raise will go directly towards making this film possible. Since it's a period piece, we will need costumes and props that are authentic to the time. Not to mention, two legitimate caskets. One for stunts and one that can stay pretty.
Then it comes down to cast and crew. In order to get an authentic western feel, we are driving nearly two hours away to Graham, Texas, where most of the filming will be done. The least we can do is provide hot meals for everyone, as well as cover their costs for travel.
Why We Need Your Help
Filmmaking is a highly collaborative process that begins long before the camera is even turned on. As student filmmakers we are embracing all the help we can get. Good Grief simply wouldn't be possible without your support, and today, more than ever before, it's easy to get involved and directly help create amazing films like this one.
Risks and challenges
Being student filmmakers, one of our largest setbacks is funding the project. We have some great locations and most of the equipment is provided for us. However, getting the entire cast and crew nearly two hours away is going to be tough. Also, some additional rental equipment will be necessary, such as a jib, custom contact lenses, a replica dead possum (yes, you read correctly), and more.
If our goal is not met we do not receive ANY funds, so we really appreciate any help. Thank you for your support!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
