"Marcel - vol. I Italian politics as a work of art" is the show we want to bring to the Edinburgh Fringe the first two weeks of August 2014, we will soon release the venue (be sure it will be on one of the main roads!).
Marcel is a dada performance running on two tracks: one is the story of a man and a woman in an apocalyptic set (a long blackout populated by a strange army), a situation which makes people rethink about the concept of evolution; the other track (the characters’ nightmares) is a "readymade", a script created from the interceptions from the “Ruby’s case”, which involves the former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and an underage Moroccan girl.
The aim is to change the "readymade" track time to time, using different cases taken as ready made from current events to illustrate the contemporary world through grotesque and absurd.
Marcel, in a homage to Duchamp , is an attempt to create a dialog between theatre and contemporary world.
Marcel is going to be built on physical improvisations. And there is going to be music as well: we are going to sing on famous opera music (mostly from Bellini's Norma) to create a contrast between the highest outbursts and lower instincts of humankind.
Of course £1000 won't be enough to take the show to Edinburgh but it's going to be a great help and of course we hope to collect more!
The money we will eventually collect are going to help to cover the costs of venue, flyers and posters, travels and accomodation.
The only professional who is going to be paid in this very first step is a P.R., since we hope her work will help the rest of the crew to earn something as well, at least on a promotional side.
Risks and challenges
The main risk is related with the crew: just a good crew can make a good work. Fortunately we have a lot of time to look for the right persons and London is full of talented people. We have 10 years of experience in facing every possible accident which can happen during the production... and we are quite creative to invent new ways to survive in case of emerging of new problems!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
