Super Heroes are starting to thrive in numbers in the small Metro City. Indeed, as the city tends to attract crime and unpredictable events, wannabe heroes must come here to grow some good reputation and - who knows? - maybe join the famous Liberty Patrol!
Guardians' Chronicles: The Clash of Heroes is a board game with minis for 2 to 8 players, in which two super-powered teams fight a system-generated Super Villain... while trying their best to be on the newspapers front pages more often than the enemy team!
This new game is a standalone you can use to play countless entertaining games, but it is also compatible with the heroes of Guardians' Chronicles Season 1. Thus, you will be able to build the Super Hero teams of your choice by combining their powers in the first season just as in this.
Next Stretch Goal
Before they begin to play, the players divide into two Teams. Each player shall choose one Hero, coming with their own set of attributes and powers.
Each Hero has the following elements for the player to play them during the game:
- A miniature to help locate the character on the game board
- An ID Card showing their attributes (Speed, Attack, Defence, Mental, Health and Special Power)
- A set of Power Cards used to trigger the Hero's specific powers
- An Initiative Card showing the order in which the Heroes will act within the team.
During the Strategy Phase, each player will secretly choose one or two Power Card(s) for the turn. They can use each card in two different ways:
- As a Secret Technique: play this card to the right of your Hero's ID card to modify their Attributes for the duration of the turn.
- As a Special Power: play this card to the left of your Hero's ID card to use the card's Special Power during this turn.
Once all Power Cards have been chosen for every Super Hero, each Team will secretly choose the order in which their members will act thanks to the Initiative Cards.
This new core box makes it possible for all players to play against the Super Villain and try to thwart their Machiavellian scheme, all this stuff being handled by the game system. All you have to do is refer to the Menace Sheet corresponding to the chosen scenario's Super Villain which will specify:
- The Starting Positions for both Hero Teams, for the Super Villain and the other items to be used in the scenario
- The Actions to be performed at the end of a turn which will help the Super Villain getting inexorably closer to their final goal
- The Super Villain's Reactions which describe their behaviour whenever a Hero comes too close or attacks them directly
- The different End game conditions which will help both teams gain newspapers articles relating their achievements
These titanic battles are set in a town, and the scenery elements shall suffer from it! Many scenery elements can be used by your Super Heroes in two different ways:
- The usual way, which will allow for various Special Actions
- As improvised weapons that can make a difference in a fight
Besides, many Civilians walk the streets of Metro City and you can interact with them in the course of your adventures.
All over the game, both Teams will build up the front page of their respective newspapers:
- Prevent the Super Villain from achieving their Machiavellian scheme grants one big article (i.e. 4 victory points)
- Defeat the Super Villain grants one normal article (i.e. 2 victory points)
- Knock Out one enemy Hero or achieve one's personal goal grants one small article (i.e. 1 victory point each)
Once the game is over and the Super Villain is under lock and key, it is time for the Teams to compare their front pages. The Team with the higher score wins the game in this media struggle to be called "Saviours of Metro City".

Risks and challenges
GUARDIANS' CHRONICLE SAISON 1
Long story short... Guardians' Chronicles first season was brought to Kickstarter by Iello, The Red Joker being the publisher of the game. Unfortunately, and without this being the fault of any of the parties, many little disagreements and exchanges for all decisions led to repetitive delays...
Finally, all core boxes and the campaign Stretch Goals (even those that had not been unlocked) have been delivered to the backers, and only extra heroes were missing. In March 2016, The Red Joker and Iello agreed that The Red Joker alone would take over the management of the project, in order to make the delivery of remaining elements easier. From this date on, we started manufacturing the missing miniatures, and we should be able to show you the resin masters during the campaign, by the way.
SEASON 1 BACKERS
Season 1 backers who had pledged for the Hero: Alter Ego ($100) or higher will receive for free a Veteran pledge of this campaign, while the other backers will receive the missing miniatures with their associated items
If you wish to add some of this campaign's addons, you can do it without additional shipping fees by simply making a pledge equal to the amount of the addons that you wish to buy.
READY TO PROCEED TO PRODUCTION
Unlike the first campaign, this time all basic pledges, and a big part of the Stretch Goals, are almost ready for production.
Besides, we have already begun pre-producing all the miniatures, and we should be able to show you definitive masters by the end of the campaign.
