Vista Blue - "Hit the Floor" 7-inch (at Ardent Studios)
A 7-inch record by Vista Blue, recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis and mixed/mastered by Perry Leenhouts at Point Break Sounds.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Mon, April 29 2019 6:14 PM UTC +00:00.
We are Vista Blue. We're a Nashville rock band with power pop and '90s pop punk influences. (Please scroll to the bottom of this section if you would like to read more info about us or hear our music.)
For our next 7-inch, "Hit the Floor," we are planning to do something that is very special to us. First, we are going to Memphis to record at Ardent Studios. Of course, this is where so many great bands made some of our favorite records, including Big Star, Gin Blossoms, REM, and so many more. This will be the first time Vista Blue records in a real studio.
We are also planning to bring in our New Orleans buddy Richard Bates to play lead guitar on this project. He is very familiar with a couple of the tracks (hint?), and he'll help fill out our sound a little for this record.
After recording at Ardent, we are then sending the tracks over to Perry Leenhouts of The Travoltas (and Point Break Sounds) to mix and master for us. Perry is one of our favorite songwriters/musicians, and he really understands our band and our sound. This will also be our first time having a professional do the mixing and mastering for us.
Finally, after trying for months to find a label to help us, we have decided we'll likely need to release this record ourselves. Obviously, this is where most of the money is needed.
We did a Kickstarter in 2017 to help release our curling split with The Zambonis, and if you supported that, we are truly thankful. And while we ended up finally breaking even on that project in the end, we unfortunately didn't sell enough to fund another record. So here we are again asking for help if you can do so.
Rather than asking for donations, we're really looking at this as more of a pre-order. If enough people simply chose the pre-order level to fund the record, that would be great. But then we also have some other perks for those who may be able to help out a little more.
Vinyl colors will not be announced until after pressing is completed. Kickstarter backers will have a choice between black and colored vinyl. Some colors may be very limited, and priority will be given to those who pledge earlier. (We also plan to have some complete packages for sale upon release.)
This campaign (the minimum amount) will not fully fund this record. We are also putting all merch sales toward the project and will be playing a show or two as a cover band to help fund it as well. (If you are in the Nashville area and need a cover band, let us know!)
Please reach out if you have any questions. And please consider sharing this campaign with anyone who may be interested in checking it out. Thanks so much for reading and for any support.

Risks and challenges
If this campaign fails, we plan to still record at Ardent, and just mix and master a digital release ourselves. Any amount over what we're asking for will go toward improving the artwork, creating a better product, and/or pressing a larger quantity of records.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
