A tactical game of foraging created by Tom Sudall (Astral Peace) with help from Catriona Ross. Tests have shown it rating 8.7 on the fun scale!

In Squirrel you hop from one leaf pile to the next in search of acorns. The forager with the most acorns at the end of the game is the winner.
Under each green leaf card is a chance to find either a brown leaf or some acorns. When you pick up a card, add it to your hand.
Neither Squirrel is sure who has the most acorns and as each leaf pile turns brown, the suspense heightens because when the last green leaf of autumn turns brown... the game has ended.
A Squirrel who holds more than 3 acorn cards must drop one of them...
and an opponent who stands on a dropped acorn can steal from your hand!
1. It's Quick and Fun every time!
A game of Squirrel usually takes between 3 to 5 minutes. The rules are simple and easy to understand. Once you've played Squirrel, you'll want to play again and again.
2. It's Clever
Luck is important but there is enough game play in Squirrel to engage even the liveliest of minds. Watch out! If you're too good at foraging... your opponent may steal from the store of acorns in your hand!
3. It's Tiny
Squirrel is genuinely pocket-sized; when boxed it can sit in the palm of your hand and when played it takes up about as much space as an A4 sheet of paper. Perfect for smaller spaces like cafes, restaurants or trains. You can play it just about anywhere.
To make every copy of Squirrel special, each set will be individually hand printed, cut and assembled by me in my studio.
The leaf cards are screen printed by hand onto sheets of 100% recycled card and then air dried for a month before they are cut.
The card is a hefty 350gsm stock which gives each leaf card a sumptuous, chunky feel.
Every box will be constructed individually by hand. The box interior will be cut from a 350gsm recycled card in Tuscan brown and then wrapped and glued with a hand screen printed, fade resistant green kraft paper.
The counters are made from solid wood and crafted in Germany.
Throughout 2018 Squirrel appeared at gaming and maker events in cities, towns and villages throughout Scotland.

format 15 is the studio work platform of Tom Sudall. The studio's current mission is to develop mini manufacturing processes to make games as artworks.
Tom is an artist, musician and father of four. He invents and individually hand prints games in rural Scotland. As a teenager in the 1980's Tom was a fan of tabletop games like Car Wars, Tunnels and Trolls and Cyberpunk; games with a DIY ethos that still inspire Tom today.
In the 1990's Tom ran a games mail order catalogue before enjoying a music career as one half of Quantum Cat and one third of b-fab U.K. His first screen print was in 1998 when he designed a T-shirt for a lo-fi music festival in his home town of Manchester.
In 2016 Tom successfully launched his first hand crafted board game 'Astral Peace' on Kickstarter. Astral Peace won the Conpulsion Gaming Convention's Golden Griffie Award for Best New Boardgame 2016.
A tremendous physical effort goes into manufacturing his games, but for Tom, the most important bits of a game are those that can't be touched or seen, the rules mechanisms that govern play.
If successful, Squirrel will be joined by a further 3 titles in an eventual series of 4 collectable forager themed pocket games by format 15.
CATRIONA ROSS collaborated to develop Squirrel. Originally from Scotland, she moved to London in 1992 to study fine art at Chelsea College of Art and Design. After several years working on community arts projects in inner city Manchester, Catriona returned to Scotland in 2007. She is married to Tom Sudall and practices art and delivers children's art workshops in South Lanarkshire.
We've spent months showing people Squirrel and we're really excited to see that so many people love it! Due to it's popularity we wanted to run a Kickstarter campaign to share Squirrel with even more people across the world.

Risks and challenges
I will be making and assembling individual games of Squirrel by hand, so if successful, my main challenge will be to make Squirrel in the quantities required... the more successful the project, the more work I will need to do and I only have one pair of hands!
Based on the prototypes I have made I can guarantee to make and deliver 300 games of Squirrel by November. I delivered a larger and more complex game in Astral Peace for my last kickstarter project, so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
If my campaign exceeds the 300 game barrier I will invest in a die forme to speed the cutting out of box wrappers and consider outsourcing parts of the manufacturing process such as screen preparation.
