Welcome, Welcome, Welcome... to the Kickstarter page for Pepper Proud's second Album "The Water Chapter" .
Greetings Folks!!!!!- Not only have I been on a quest to write new music, but my intention for this next album has been to write captivating stories influenced and inspired by Water.
Why Water Pepper?? Well... I spent a lot of time during my Pacific Northwest tour camping near water, trying to find water, and being inspired by the time I spent at rivers, lakes, watersheds, hot springs, cold springs, getting drenched by rain showers and jumping in mud puddles. You see- Something special happens while staring at water- a slow river, the sea, the tide moving with precise eloquence- it sets a tone that encourages tranquility and gives the mind space- and I found myself motivated to start writing about this indispensable resource and reflect lessons I have learned from the water.
Can you give us an example? The above song "Salty Bodies" is the first track for "The Water Chapter". It is intended as a narrative of the water's life cycle- "dropping off the leaves,.. to the creeks,.. to the streams,.. Rain doesn't doubt that it will end up at the Sea- Doesn't seem to worry about its Destiny." Even though it's destination is unknown- the water has the ability to move slowly and gracefully through its journey.
When will you begin? Early next spring, I will begin working with Producer Jason Goessl (of Parlour Trick) again in his Ballard recording studio to record the guitar parts, vocals, banjo, violin, drums, mandolin, bass, and some really exciting new instruments and musicians! Then the mixing and mastering will happen (hopefully) by the end of summer, and duplication and packaging will be completed by the fall just in time for an amazing CD release party brimming with creative minds, performance artists, and a community gathering inspired by water!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please consider sharing this opportunity to support and co-create "The Water Chapter"- with your friends, family, baristas, bartenders, neighbors, co-workers, hair-stylists, and other members of your community!
Much Gratitude and Love-
Risks and challenges
At times is it difficult as an artist to make projects come to life- funding to do so is the first step!
Here is a simple breakdown of what I expect this album to cost-
* $3000- Recording/ Mixing
* $1000- Mastering
* $1000- Musicians
* $2000- Packaging/ CD Replications/ Cover Art
* $1500- Distribution
The second step is organizing people and respecting their time! I really enjoy giving each artist the reins and enough time to add their own personal touch, including the musicians, the producer, mixer, master, replicator, cover artist, printer, editor, etc... the collaboration from each person is what makes the project really come to life! But this takes time, patience, and funding to keep each artist well fed, happy and feeling supported!
