TAKEDOWN: The road to shipping...
Early Access Alpha Launch!
Early Access Build In the Chamber: Downrange Soon!
Hello TAKEDOWN supporters,
I know we have been dark since our last announcement of the Early Access Alpha release to Kickstarters. That is because thousands of you took the time to fill our surveys, post bug reports, and give us feedback. We have been acting on that feedback, and still are, but I wanted to give you and update and let you know what the road to shipping looks like.
Early Access Alpha Release
Thousands of you took the time to play the Early Access Alpha Release and send us feedback, thoughts, and bugs. I am happy that we were able to meet our Kickstarter obligation (although we were 12 days late) to release that Alpha to you, and your feedback has been invaluable to make the game better. Lots of features and gameplay elements have been changed or tweaked based on your feedback.
Events & Press
I have been on a whirlwind tour since we went to E3 and released the Kickstarter Early Access Build. Last weekend was Quakecon, where we got the chance to allow non-Kickstarter hardcore PC gamers the chance to sit down and play the game, as well as running the very first TAKEDOWN Attack/Defend single-elimination tournament! Team FAP won the day out of the six teams that entered, bringing home Nvidia 680 cards, courtesy of 505 Games.
Next week I will be heading down to San Francisco and Los Angeles for a whirlwind press tour, showing TAKEDOWN to the major press outlets. The week after that, a few special community members will be joining me in Los Angeles for a special, invite-only event that will give the chance for a select few Kickstarters to get some hands on time with automatic weapons and the TAKEDOWN beta.
The week after, many of us will be attending PAX, where TAKEDOWN will be making another appearance. If you are going to PAX, please let us know so that we can make sure you get to the front of the line to play some more TAKEDOWN!
Shipping this game!
We are on track to ship this fall. The team, all 10 of our full time members, have been working 12+ hour days to get this game ready to ship. Now that we have locked down the core of the game after E3, we are working on the Xbox 360 port, and will be getting both versions ready for consumers.
What I would request from you, our supporters, is to pick up the mantel and let people know about this game! Tell people that a game you supported on Kickstarter is actually coming out, because we are. We appreciate your support in the beginning, and need your voice now. Let people know we exist, and tell your friends on every social media available to take a look at our little game.

Hello, TAKEDOWN fans!
We are happy to announce that we will be rolling out our early release PC build to Kickstarters soon. Giving you a chance to experience an early version of the game shows our support to the TAKEDOWN community, as well as helping us gather valuable feedback.
The build will be released to community members in stages, starting with Platinum members and then staged out to other supporters, and we will be using Steam to distribute this playable build.
Various members will also be receiving survey information to fill out, this information is very important to gather information for marketing and demographic purposes. Technical issues, such as PC information or graphics card compatibility should be posted at the forums.
We are setting up special sub-forums at serellan.com/forums to allow you to post questions and comments, as well as to allow for organizing games, accessing Teamspeak servers, etc. If you are a Kickstarter and haven’t registered for the forums yet, if you use your Kickstarter email address, your community level should be automatically applied to access these special forums.
A few things to keep in mind: The build we are using for this is the E3 build. We chose this because the E3 build is stable, and was tested extensively at E3, where our most recent builds haven’t had as much stability testing. Also, because of the Steam distribution, it is easier to use an already-packaged build. Because of this, you will be able to find plenty of bugs, missing content (such as VO), and other issues. Feel free to post up these issues, but know that this is an early build of a game, and we expect that you will run into issues.
We are currently organizing things and awaiting Steam keys for distribution. Please be patient as we figure out the exact dates that you can expect to receive your download information. More details will be included in the email you recieve, including technical & install information.
Please also make sure your email address is updated on your Kickstarter.com profile. Also, to prevent spam filters from compromising your steam key, please whitelist the serellan.com domain. If you were a Zazzle supporter and your email changed, send your updated address to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks again for all your support,
As you (hopefully) know, we showed the game at E3 a few weeks ago, I wanted to take the time to give you a glimpse into the coverage we are recieving. All in all, the press has been really positive, with the general caveat that "COD fans" may not like the game (which is fine by me, that is kind of the ****ing point).
Here are some shots from the E3 booth:
And, here are the press articles:
Also lots of folks who have seen our Kickstarter Early Reveal Footage (since a Kickstarter posted it to Reddit minutes after we shared it with you) have asked about the state of the game. Yes, there are tons of bugs shown in that video, but we felt it was more important to show you the state of the game than to produce a polished trailer. I understand that some of our Kickstarters can't resist the urge to post it up for the general public, and that is a hit we have to take to let you see content as soon as we can release it to you.
