We are making an album of all original big band compositions and arrangements featuring the finest young musicians in DFW.
We are The Tyler Mire Big Band, a 19 piece large jazz ensemble comprised of professionals in the DFW area.
We have been playing together since the summer of 2012. Since then we have really matured as a band and our repertoire has grown tremendously. Our live shows are a combination of original material and classic big band music, featuring the improvisational talents of the various members.
As the band leader, I have had the great joy and honor of composing music specifically for my members. Without a doubt, these are some of the best young jazz musicians in the country. In my writing I get to feature these incredible artists, several of whom have features on the recording.
The album is a nine track CD with a wide variety of styles and influences. You'll hear hip hop, rock, funk, straight ahead swing, sambas, and ballads - with influences by Thad Jones, Count Basie, Bill Holman, Maria Schneider, Robert Glasper, RH Factor and everything in between!
With all the tracks recorded, we now need help securing extra funds to help pay for the mixing, mastering, artwork and CD Duplication.
Completing this album would be a dream come true and help get these great musicians out there. Any contribution is appreciated - with your help we can make this project a reality! Thank you!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
At this stage the band has recorded all nine tracks on the CD.
Now the hard work lies ahead in completing liner notes, album art, mixing/mastering, and CD production. All of this is expensive and time consuming. Once the money is secured we can begin the process of finishing each task.
The challenge will be to stay focused in order to complete all the things needed to see this project's success. Mixing will require great patience to ensure the band is represented in the best way. Great care will be needed to make sure the CD liner notes are accurate and without spelling errors.
Yes you can still donate and pre-order the CD until April 15th.
Additional funds will go to:
1. Compensating the musicians further
2. Ensuring the highest quality of mixing, mastering and CD production
3. Ordering more quantity of CDs
4. Video Promotion and more live/studio recording
While the recording, photography, and video recording was all self funded, we need additional funding for all the post production of the CD which is very expensive. This includes several days of mixing, mastering, Artwork/Liner Notes, Mechnical Fees (for the arrangements) and CD Duplication.
