Why we chose Kickstarter?
Kickstarter has a history of being the ideal platform to launch breakthrough new products. We felt from the start that Kickstarter would be the ideal place to launch The TravelCard™. Support and feedback from the Kickstarter community on The TravelCard™ and future products will be invaluable.
GO DESIGN was founded with the aim of producing products that provide problem-solving solutions for busy people. The TravelCard™ and other products we have on the drawing board accomplish this goal by taking a simple-is-better approach to functionality, without sacrificing design elements.
Brian Neufang's background is in sales and marketing of consumer products. He was also a producer on the Kickstarter-funded indie hit movie, "Ingenious." Our other partners/employees have extensive experience creating and sourcing successful products for national retailers, including unique houseware items, animated watches and computer accessories.
We hope to build the business by becoming known as the small company with big time saving ideas.
Risks and challenges
Once The TravelCard™ concept was found to be feasible, we located an ultra-thin Lithium battery source. Then we methodically sought out an experienced Apple certified factory to produce The Travel Card. The Chinese factory we selected has been in business over eight years, has 450 employees and has gone through an extensive certification process to become Apple MFI (Made for iPhone) 6.0 licensed. Apple approved our factory's initial design prototype in November 2013. The final step in the approval process will be Apple signing off on a production sample and issuing a MFI license. There is always the possibility that Apple could want modifications made before approval. But according to the head engineer at our factory, this is unlikely since Apple has already approved the design. Our factory has had a close working relationship with Apple, having produced over forty MFI products.
We feel we've allowed ample time for pre-production, and once production is under way, we are confident that our factory has the capacity to keep up with demand.
Manufacturing delays could occur, but our sources tell us our factory is very reliable. We believe this to be the case or they wouldn't be Apple certified.
Shipping to our backers around the world in a timely manner presents a challenge because of the increased restrictions on products with batteries. However, our fulfillment center has extensive experience in dealing with worldwide carriers to minimize any delays.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
