Did you watch the Kickstarter video?
If you did take a look at it, you might notice something different from other campaigns. There is no talking head interviews in living rooms or kitchens, Ken Burns effect on photos, or celebrities making random appearances. We wanted to do something different. So we wrote a teaser that is in the same vein of our actual story. With the script, our actors, and a small team, we visited different locations that we are going to be using for the film, and we shot a small short to show you how dedicated we are to the project, as well as to give you a true feeling of what the full film will be like if we are funded.
I hope you enjoy our new approach! We will be doing updates where you can watch us talk about the project, so have no fear.
UPDATE: Interview/Glimpse at the Main Actors
We Were Monsters And Detectives follows Melanie and Sofia, two 16 year old girls, over the course of a summer of change in a forgotten town. Melanie and Sofia have been best friends for as long as any of them can remember, but this summer is different. This summer, they are each handing change and growing up very differently.
Why I hold the story so close to my heart
They are always telling you to write what you know, pull from home, etc. As a writer and director who has made a good amount of short films, I can honestly say I haven't really done that. But, with this film, it came so natural to pull almost every aspect from things that have happened to me, or to someone close to me. I have a deep love for the story and the characters, and I believe it is a story worth telling, worth being seen.
Who We Are
We are a cast and crew of ambitious, hardworking young filmmakers, who currently attend or have graduated from film school. This is an independent project that we are creating without the "Hollywood industry." We have a group of very talented people, and truly believe in the message of this production. This is why we have come to Kickstarter to ask for help. We truly want to get this film out to a much larger audience. Our goal, as a whole, is to establish ourselves as independent filmmakers and make this beautiful story. We're living our dreams.

Risks and challenges
We are a cast and crew of young, ambitious, hardworking people. We are ready to give everything we have to this film. And with any project there is going to be some problems that arise, mostly minor, but that shows a dedicated filmmaker from someone else, when the problems arise, you face them head on.
Problems that could arise:
- If we don't raise this money from kickstarter, we will not be able to shoot this film.
- We do have an animal in the film, and whenever you have an animal on set, it makes it that much harder. But, we will have the trainer close by at all times, and overall it should only help take our film to the next level.
- As always with an independent film, we have to get enough people on board to come out and work everyday without getting paid or getting paid very little. Lucky enough we know a good deal of dedicated people that we have worked with before. So, we know and trust the crew.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
