Preview Page: the Zobeck Legionnaire

Posted by Kobold Press (Creator)

The Midgard Bestiary has come a long way in just a few days, and the project is now just $670 from its goal. This is very encouraging indeed, and there's no reason not to celebrate a bit.

So, as a sneak preview for all the backers and for everyone still on the fence, here's a sample page! This is for the Zobeck legionnaire, a level 5 Soldier in need of little introduction.

They make a fine monster, of course, in clockwork cities, in ancient tombs, or in dungeons where bringing in food and water might be a bit difficult. Their most amusing ability, to my eyes anyway, is Clockwork Resilience.

Clockwork Resilience (free; when the Zobeck legionnaire takes ongoing damage; encounter)
Effect: The Zobeck legionnaire makes a saving throw vs. the ongoing damage with a +2 bonus.

Comments welcome, and spread the word!

Correct image now posted above. Still waiting on some color art (including this one), but we will have all art colored before this Kickstarter ends.

Yep, the stat blocks in the final will be MM3 style. My fault for showing off the older page formatting.

In addition, the B&W art seen here will be swapped for a full-color piece in the PDF.

I'm wondering, though, will monster stat blocks will be written in the MM3 style, which breaks up Standard, Move, Minor Actions and Traits into different, green-banded categories?

Rich and Brian drew on the best for both rules and lore. This one is a bit of a favorite around here, because it was one of the first creatures with a particular link to the setting.

I love that art. And the fiction is interesting, too.

Why, yes, I am a huge warforged fan...
