Picture Taipei is the story of Aimee, a typical L.A. girl working a 9-to-6 job to pay the bills. After quitting her dead end job and discovering that her boyfriend is cheating on her, Aimee decides to leave her past behind and go on an adventure. Aimee travels to Taipei, a city she has never been before, where the people and places she encounters begin to transform her life.
Picture Taipei is about living an authentic life, about choosing what you want to do versus going through life by default. It's about looking past everyday difficulties and finding beauty and meaning in the world around us, so that we can move forward in life with fresh eyes.
Who We Are
Picture Taipei started with a group of friends. Some of us have direct ties to the island, others have long been admirers of Taiwan, but all of us have a passion for telling a genuine story that resonates with anyone who is trying to find their place in the world. We wanted to create Picture Taipei because we recognized that a lot of people are unfamiliar with the Taiwan we know and love; we also realized that there are a lot of people who feel lost between what they feel is expected of them versus what they know is true of themselves.
As a team, we stepped outside of our regular jobs and comfort zones and we took the leap to do something we truly care about. We believe in living an authentic life, going on the same journey our main character Aimee begins when she arrives in Taipei. It's been an unbelievable journey from L.A. to Taipei and we want you to join us for the rest of the ride.
How You Can Help
This film is unprecedented; there have been movies made in Taiwan, but nothing has come close to portraying the magic of Taipei to a mainstream audience. We want people to know that Taipei is more than just milk tea and night markets; Taipei is an international city of endless creativity and it is an ideal place to find yourself and be yourself.
We dreamed big for this project, but even dreams need help in order to become reality. Your contributions will go directly toward the critical process of post-production, from coloring to sound mixing to purchasing music licenses and all the way to funding submissions to film festivals. Filming the project is only half of the process and the associated costs of producing a world class movie needs your help in order to bring everything to a successful conclusion.
By participating in our Kickstarter campaign, YOU can help us write an amazing ending to our incredible story!
When we went to Taiwan we put our heart, time, and money into making the best film we could. Over the course of a year, we were able to secure sponsorships for hotel accommodations and flights to Taiwan, as well as raise funds for equipment rentals, actors, and location fees. Our project is partially funded but there are still remaining production costs that we are responsible for, as well as post-production funds we need to raise in order to complete the film. Your contributions will help bring us from the halfway point to the finish line!
Our minimum goal is to raise $15,000 on Kickstarter. But as the graph shows, our production and post production costs add up to total more than that. Our dream is to eventually raise enough funds to cover our costs fully, so we can successfully complete this film for you all.

Risks and challenges
As with any independent film, Picture Taipei is truly a labor of love. Every member of the team has regular jobs and commitments, but we took the leap in doing this project because we knew it needed to be done.
We put our all into producing this project with no salaries, no guarantees, no prospects of monetary reward... We just wanted to make a quality movie that shines a spotlight on Taipei in a way it has never been seen before. It's not a sure thing and it wasn't an easy process, but we were committed to making it happen and we are determined to see it through to the end!
All proceeds from this campaign are going directly toward making sure the film is completed and given a chance to be screened in front of audiences across America and throughout the world.
We started this journey as a team and we want to finish it as a team... We're inviting you to join this team and run with us as we race to the finish line!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
