Inspired by ThreeA Toys...
We wanted to make something that would accurately represent the characters from the World of Ninjas and Robots, but also be made with a long lasting quality and durability that will stand the tests of time. 3D printing with Resin will give us details and quality like nothing else. And printing all the individual pieces that pop together keeps us from having a boring, stiff, statue. These characters are Ninjas! They have to be posable! They need to bring the action and energy of the Graphic Novels into the Collectable, Designer, High-End Toy Realm.
We also didn't want to just Copy ThreeA, and PRINT or mimic something that has already been done, albeit done well. We wanted to express our characters with our own unique energy and voice.
So we sat down to redesign this whole thing from the ground up.
The model for YUKI is being designed based on my art. And each phase of the overall design is modified by me personally. It will perfectly align with my vision for this NINJAS AND ROBOTS and these Characters who are like family and friends to me.
While these Art-Figures are nearly as articulate as the ThreeA Figures that we love, This 3D printed Yuki is much more solid by design than a typical ThreeA Tomorrow Queen. She is Super Strong and the Ninja Hero of Ninjas and Robots. She has a bit more muscle mass and more body weight, so these Art-Figures have to replicate that. She is SOLID in a sexy way. She needs to feel like she can stand and exist on her own, and this Art-Figure will definitely be able to do that.
WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE FINAL 3D DESIGN STAGES OF THE HEAD.
THE HEAD IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. After the Head is Finalized and Perfect we'll TEST PRINT it and begin the 3D Design MODEL of the FULL BODY. The Body will be NUDE, with the GLOVES and BOOTS Part of that BASE FIGURE (as seen below). AND THE CLOTHES will be Added ON TOP of That Base. The Clothing will be REMOVABLE so that you can change her costume or upgrade pieces or parts later on.
We're super excited to bring this to you. This is something that hasn't been done, not in this way. And if it's as well received and successful as we believe it will be, then there's NO LIMIT to where it will go from here!
We would LOVE to make a TOY-LINE and THIS is the BEGINNING of THAT.
3D Printing isn't a long term solution. It's just a super cool step in the Process. We are doing something no one else has done by making these articulated 3D Printed Figures available to the Public. Down the line we hope to take the 3D Model that comes out of this Kickstarter to some professional toy makers and make a For-Real Toy-line. But this is a necessary First Step.
This is a Limited Edition Kickstarter thing. There won't be any way to order these after the fact or pick them up from your Local Shop. This has to be done this way, to see how big the Demand is. Everything AFTER is kind of dependent on THIS.
NINJAS AND ROBOTS THE GRAPHIC NOVEL VOL. 2 UPDATE!
A Quick Note about Ninjas and Robots Vol. 2. One of the Stretch Goals for NAR 2 was to unlock Production for a 6 inch, non-articulated Yuki Figure... It was more like a cool Statue though. While that goal was barely unlocked, I really did some Soul Searching as to how to pursue that idea... or if there was even enough demand or desire for me to continue with it.
It's taken me awhile to get here, now, with this Product.
But for EVERYONE who Backed Vol. 2. All my Extra thought and Energy is going toward making that Book as EPIC as possible. I will leave this 12 inch Yuki Art-Model/Figure in the Capable hands of the Masters at CUBO to make this a Reality. I did the designs, and I'll Approve their interpretation of those designs throughout the process, and tweak them along the way as necessary. And while they are WORKING HARD I'll be WORKING HARD on NINJAS AND ROBOTS Vol 2. And then when I'm done with Vol 2 the Production of this Figure should be ready for me. I'll hand paint everything for everyone, and do the original art/drawings and Design the Packaging. So Never Fear! Mad Love my peoples!!! Your Graphic Novel will not be Neglected!!!!
Thanks so much for your time and LOVE guys, We hope you Love Yuki as much as we do, and we hope you want to take an Art-Figure of her on your Life Adventure with You!
Risks and challenges
This isn't my first Rodeo... I mean Kickstarter. But of course, there are always Risks and Challenges. So much goes into the creation of any Project. So much time and energy, money, and resources. Production time for something like this normally takes about 6 months... but keep in mind each individual figure piece has to be designed as a 3D model and then test printed to make sure that they all fit together and move and articulate as they should. As has been pointed out, this isn't something that people normally do. Sure you might find someone to make a 3D Printed Prototype for you, and you might find someone else to paint it, and then you have to send it off. Molds are made, material is poured and pulled, pieces are sanded and assembled and then painted again, and then someone else packages and someone else ships. CUBO and I are doing this ourselves, all here in the States. Just us. This is insane, and yet so amazingly awesome at the same time. We are excited. Put your trust in us. Be patient and you will have something so much more incredible than you can ever imagine.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
