THE STORY, THE IDEA
Many good ideas start with a tragic story. This one is no different and started with a tragic story of a smartphone ending up in the bathtub!
There are a variety of smartphone speakers on the market. While most are designed for one specific phone model to fit into, some use Bluetooth technology to work with a variety of phone models from a distance. The S.A.S.S. Smartphone Acoustic Shower Speaker by StatGear-Tech is the only all inclusive acoustic shower speaker which fits any style of smartphone either with or without a smartphone case on it. It relies completely on acoustic resonance without any need for batteries or wires.
Our Design Process
We wanted our design to provide the clearest sound quality possible while accommodating any sized smartphone enclosed in a waterproof shower case. We consulted specialized acoustic engineers to provide their input in this creation.
Our original design didn't give us the quality we were looking for so we redesigned the product and made new prototypes.
Our redesigned version was prototyped and yielded the sound quality and durability we were looking for.
DESIGN & KEY BENEFIT
This is designed to be water resistant from all shower sprays - it shouldn't be immersed in water though. The S.A.S.S. is made up of an acoustic chamber designed to help resonate the sounds from your smartphone speaker. It has a rubber gasket sealing off the chamber and a waterproof membrane separating the acoustic chamber from the speaker.
The S.A.S.S. has a loop on top which can easily attach to a shower caddy or with the accompanying suction cup hook.

WITH YOUR SUPPORT
Our S.A.S.S. Smartphone Acoustic Shower Speaker has moved from idea on paper, to engineered CAD drawings, to several prototypes testing function and now we're ready to launch a full-scale manufacturing run, and we can't do it without your help.

Risks and challenges
There are always potential issues when dealing with a factory, however, this is not my first manufacturing project. The longest part of the process is the tool building which should take about 5-6 weeks. My factory is experienced with Kickstarter projects and has worked with many of the popular Kickstarter campaigns. My initial order will be for a few thousand pieces. I will provide full disclosure on our progress as our tooling and manufacturing run kicks off. We are an established manufacturing company who has several products in our product line with mass order fulfillment capabilities.
