Utherwald Press is planning Frozen Skies as a dieselpunk setting for the Savage Worlds game system. Our current goal will help us to pay to have the book polished by Savage Mojo. They will provide layout, cover design and the other little touches that will make Frozen Skies shine.
Set in the mysterious, frozen lands of Alyeska, it is an in-depth and informative guide to its history, geography, myths and legends.

What Is Dieselpunk?
Dieselpunk is an art style based on the aesthetics popular between World War I and the end of World War II. The style combines the artistic and genre influences of the period (including pulp magazines, serial films, film noir, art deco, and wartime pin-ups) with postmodern technology and sensibilities. First coined in 2001 as a marketing term by game designer Lewis Pollak to describe his role-playing game Children of the Sun, dieselpunk has grown to describe a distinct style of visual art, music, motion pictures, fiction, and engineering. Examples include Rocketeer, The Legend of Korra, Crimson Skies, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Dark City, Greed Corp, Gatling Gears, Iron Sky, the BioShock series, K-20: Legend of the Mask and Skullgirls.
Frozen Skies is a complete game setting custom built for the award-winning Savage Worlds rule-set published by Pinnacle Entertainment Group. You will need the Savage Worlds Deluxe or Explorer's core books to play the game. The Frozen Skies book also introduces characters who have made names for themselves in Alyeska including those living on both sides of the law, the pioneering ice pilots without whom the land would be virtually uninhabitable, and the various factions who strive to bring civilisation to this inhospitable world.
It is currently intended to release Frozen Skies both as a PDF and a full size soft cover book, the current goal is to raise funds to cover the artwork and to have the book polished by Savage Mojo. The £3,000 (approx $4,750 USD) that is being asked for will cover the costs of the artwork, editing, layout, etc. Presently planned is that the PDF version will be released first with the hard copy following shortly after via Print-On-Demand.
The good folks over at Fabled Environments have offered some of their maps as a free reward providing that the project is successful, there'll be four to maps to choose from and they'll be available to everyone who backs the project regardless of pledge amount. The maps are not only useful for Frozen Skies, but other settings and systems as well.
The four maps available are;
In total worth £20 ($32 USD).
Presently the stretch goals below are planned for the project.
£3,750:- Companion book containing fiction based on the setting.
£5,000:- Poster sized map of Alyeska.
£6,000:- Custom set of dice for Frozen Skies.
£7,500:- A set of cardstock figures for use with Frozen Skies.
Additional stretch goals will be added depending on how well the project progresses and from the feedback that is given, but since the focus is on getting the book out the Stretch Goals are being kept modest.
Each stretch goal will become available as the project reaches each of the levels and will be made available as add-ons.

Risks and challenges
No one can predict the winds and life can always throw you an updraft or winds that blow you in the wrong direction. I’ve considered this and added time to all my delivery dates so as to prevent any delays in delivery. Though in the unlikely event that something does come up that will drastically effect the proposed delivery dates then I will communicate it to backers to ensure that they are kept in the loop and well informed as things progress.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
