What is HexBumper™?
What is the Problem with Hex Plates?
Hex plates have flat sides and points which strike the floor at different times and will move the bar out of alignment with your feet. They can force the barbell away from you and increase the stress on your spine as well as force the barbell toward you and cause shin bleeding and bruising.
Deadlift, powerclean, and pendlay rows are a few examples of lifts that involve weight plates making repeated contact with the ground. Proper form is essential in building strength and preventing injuries when performing these lifts. Hex plates disrupt these workouts as they cause unpredictable and inconsistent barbell movement, leading to poor form.
Every type of plate will rotate as soon as they leave the ground, and hex plates are no exception. There is only one way to ensure even floor contact.
The Solution is HexBumper™
HexBumpers prevent the barbell from swaying into your shins or away from the correct body position. Weight placement is steady and consistent, allowing the lifter to keep their spine neutral. Extraneous body movement such as shuffling your feet and re-positioning your hands is alleviated.
HexBumper allows the weight to drop steadily without wobbling back and forth. It promotes a safer deadlift and powerclean, and helps prevent against shin injury and increased spinal tension. They are lightweight, durable, and portable which gives you the versatility to work out on any floorspace.

How Many Sets Are Needed?
This is based on how much weight you will be lifting. Most lifters will only need one, but some will require an extra set. Based on the prototype testing performed, one set should be sufficient through 675 lbs. A second set is recommended beyond that to maintain the structural integrity of the product. A third set will never be necessary.
Deadlift - Apply HexBumpers™ When You Have Hex Plates
Deadlift is one of the three main powerlifts and arguably one of the most rewarding exercises. There are many key considerations when performing deadlifts. Hex plates increase the risk of injury due to compromised form, use HexBumpers to eliminate those unnecessary risks.
What Inspired HexBumper™?
I found enough people who were bothered by doing deadlifts and powercleans with hex plates. I noticed that I started to avoid them altogether when my local gyms carried them. Instead of joining a new gym or coming up with an improvised way to be able to do my favorite exercises, I created the HexBumper as a more practical solution to the difficulties with hex plates. Whether lifters have recognized this problem or not, my goal is provide an opportunity to have safe and effective workouts regardless of their gym.
Risks and challenges
I am working with a reliable Los Angeles-based product development company to assist me in getting all the units manufactured for this project. They helped me in creating 3D models and functioning design prototypes. As there are not component parts and all of the product comes from one location, I am confident that we should be able to keep to the delivery schedule. There are inherent risks and challenges in the manufacturing process but I will be diligent in my communication with production and also with all backers, the backbone of this project.
