About this project
Man Cop, you say? What’s all that about?
As Issue #1 begins, Man Cop has returned victorious from war only to learn that his city has been transformed into the personal playground of pain for the violent crimelord known as Kill Cop. Not only do the citizens accept this, they revel in it: murders occur more commonly than sneezes, gunfire accompanies simple monetary exchange and even children carry toys of Kill Cop.
As Man Cop’s allies have turned evil or been executed, only two remain: Chief Cop and his protégé, Girl Cop. The odds are grim but the Metropolice Force are still totally not cool with the current Kill Cop controlled climate.
As Man Cop and Girl Cop race to stop the mysterious “Infestation”, a terror plot that Kill Cop has constructed using the city’s homeless population, these two genetically-engineered beings try to understand their humanity in a world where actual humans have decided to abandon theirs.
MAN COP is a satirical action saga that combines the bleak, violent world of SIN CITY with the wacky cat-and-mouse games of LOONEY TUNES (think Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote).
From the depths of Hell to the medieval past and all the way to the uncrumbling of time itself, the MAN COP saga is an expansive journey. I want to use Kickstarter to create the full first issue so that I may generate more interest in my hero and his quests.
About the Creation.
The character first appeared in my silent, short film that I made when studying at New York University's Tisch School of Arts. Initially starting as a parody of the Cop genre, my love for this character soon evolved into an almost involuntary obsession.
I couldn't stop constantly covering the pages of my journals with Man Cop's continuing adventures from his origin, his time at war, his quest to defeat Kill Cop, his escape from Hell....soon I had not just his initial adventures but also Night of the Living Man Cop, Son of Kill Cop, The Chronicles of Knight Cop and much, much more. I was dying to see this saga come to life.
During my time in New York City, I worked for companies such as The Colbert Report and ABC but it wasn't until I was working with Marvel Comics that I truly decided that Man Cop's saga would come to life on the pages of comics.
This is when I teamed up with Shamus Beyale, who was studying cartooning at NYC's School of Visual Arts. Shamus and I instantly bonded over a love of dinosaurs, edge weapons and The Lord of the Rings. Within hours, we began to collectively breathe life into Man Cop.
Shamus' art perfectly represents the world that exists in my mind. You can see more of Shamus' amazing work on his blog (http://shamusbeyale.blogspot.com/) as he has just finished up pencils for Zenescope Entertainment's Grimm's Fairy Tales #58.
Where Will Your Money Go?
I will use the Kickstarter funds to cover the printing and shipping costs of 450 issues of the comic as well for payment to Shamus for the time ahead of him so he can focus his hours into making MAN COP the shiniest Patty at the Prom.
Issues #1-3 are completely scripted and I continue to finish the scripts for the many story arcs in the eventful life of Man Cop. Shamus has sketched out the majority of the first issue and is ready to dive into completing the pencils and inks.
Please see the rewards section for various prizes involved!
The war between Man Cop and Kill Cop rages on inside my brain and decorates the walls of my rooms and notebooks. I have etched their conquests onto various cavewalls but I have found the true vessel of their adventures in the pencils of Shamus Beyale. Issue #1 will be the first step towards helping me free this saga from my mind and into the pages for the world to ingest. I appreciate your taking the time to check it out!
