Thanks John! The original 1950 recording of the suite and discussion about the concert premiered on my radio show (Part 3 of 6), which can be heard here:

For those interested in a different side of Raymond Scott, I just came across a recent release of an album featuring his Suite for Violin and Piano. I'll enjoy this quite a bit....

Thanks so much Michelle for the great words! Your father's story sounds very inspirational...what a great list of names! That was an amazing period in American music. All best, B

      Mr. Carpenter,

I just wanted to say that this is a really cool project and I'm proud to be a backer. My father, Franz Jackson, was a Chicago jazz legend who started his career at age 16 with Albert Ammons and continued playing until just before he passed away in 2008 at age 95. His hey-day was in the 30's and 40's and he played with all the jazz greats from that era and beyond: Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Jimmie Noone, Fletcher Henderson, Earl Hines, Billie Holiday.....so, this project struck a chord with me. I'm looking forward to hearing the finished product and wish you continued success!

Do you think you'll make it out to San Francisco to play a show or 2, 3?

You may be right. We are a very worldly bunch, haha. Thanks for the support Sarah...

I am pretty sure that is the first time anyone has ever used "John Zorn" and "Jay-Z" in the same sentence :-) Good luck with the fundraiser!
