Player will have to aid Kiddy in defending six of the world's biggest cities – from Kiev and Moscow to London and Tokyo. The invaders dispose of an infinite number of asteroids and seven types of spaceships, each having unique characteristics and weak points, which Kiddy will need to spot and exploit in order to overcome the enemy. Of course, Kiddy will not be using boring guns or lasers or whatever outdated weapons – he is gifted by nature with telekinetic powers! That, and probably those genetic experiments performed by evil alien octopuses had a small influence... You will cut through enemies with single telekinetic punches and super-attacks requiring agile fingers and good reaction speed. You will attack with taps and swipes across 37 levels, 6 epic boss fights and over 9000 explosions (yes, we literally counted them – just to be sure), Deadly Death Rays of Deathly Death and a variety of battle tactics. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s «Kiddy vs. Universum»!
The game tells the story of a little Telekinetic kidnapped right from his home and parents by the race of evil octopuses in order to grow a perfect weapon of enormous telekinetic power. They actually succeeded… kind of. However, Kiddy managed to escape by hijacking a ship. The stolen spaceship crashed on Earth, and after getting out of the wreckage our Kid encountered a nice family of earthlings. Soon enough the Octopuses attack the Earth, trying to return their precious investment and at the same time to get rid of the witnesses – earthlings.
Our little hero uses his enormous telekinetic talent to defend the Earth and its inhabitants. Now he is the only hope and protector of the Earth from the cosmic threat!
The game mechanics of «Kiddy vs. Universum», on one hand, is very simple to grasp, but on the other hand requires skills and wit to master. The city is located at the bottom of the screen, the invaders attack from above and from the sides. The player has to locate and hit the weak points of the attacking ships with tapping and swiping. There are six cities in the game with six waves of enemies for each one. In the final waves of each level, Kiddy will have to face a unique super-boss! In addition, in the end of the game the Kid will stand against the Supreme Leader of the Octopus Armada himself – the great and undefeatable admiral Universum!

Super epic badass awesome enormous Boss Fights!
The boss battles are one of the key features of our game. Every fight represents unique experience. Imagine: you are desperately trying to defend the city from falling asteroids. Then BOOM! the alien troops join the assault! And you cannot really shrug them off, they are not that easy: they regroup, dodge your attacks and target the city below. Just as you got the hand of it POW! the capital ships join the fray, and those are tough as nails. Just as you begin to think that they are invulnerable under their energetic shields, you notice that the Kid can actually damage their inner structure in the tiny bit of time when the ship launches battle droids and opens the hatches. But be quiet, don't tell anyone about it - yet.
Every boss battle is full of surprises, from auto-healing to SUDDENLY secret super attacks. Remember boss battles from «Contra: Hard Corps» or «Adventures of Batman and Robin»? Yeah, that kind of badass surprises!
Graphics and style
When we were coming up with concept foe «Kiddy vs. Universum», we drew inspiration from the action hits of early 90s. We intended to create a game with polished graphics, add a little humor to it, make it more cartoonish and in the best traditions of retro futurism of 60s-70s. With graphics we actually nailed it - every object in game came long way from an idea to a sketch to a concept and finally to an animation sequence. We especially focused on the cities – we tried to make every locations instantly recognizable, familiar and alive.

Autumn, 2012. Three friends from Kiev, Ukraine decided to found «Excalibur Games» game studio. Our goal was to create colorful, kind games about heroism, justice and victory over forces of evil. The name for the studio came up naturally, and for us, «old-timers», it symbolized some kind of a Knight Order. For three of us, games are more than just a job. Our childhood was strongly influenced by games, it was – and is! – our hobby, our leisure and our beloved activity. Not to mention a solid professional background:
For example, Petr Lisenko began his career as a game artist in 1999. He started from the position of Texture and Tiles Artist for «Darkened Skye» from Boston Animation and «Firestarter» from GSC Gameworld (of S.T.A.L.K.E.R fame). He then took the position of Lead Artist in Action Forms and worked on «Vivisector: Beast within» and «Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason»
Sasha Homyak is a game industry veteran. He began his career as a Concept Artist and Level Designer in Rostok Games. His first project was «Beltion», followed by a whole bunch of casual games. He even made his own indie project «Power of Defense» during his stay with 4sdk team. He then worked in Poland on «Hell Racing».
As for me, my name is Artem Luxenburg and I am relatively new in the industry. My journey began in a small studio TopEvidence that created casual games for the «Big Fish Games» portal. Here I met Petr and Sasha and we instantly became good friends. A couple of years later I shared with them my idea for «Kiddy vs. Universum». They immediately fell in love the premise and concept and we soon started the development. Thus Excalibur Games and «Kiddy vs. Universum» were born
Sound and Music
We want to create unique musical atmosphere for each city in the game. Not only that, we want also to make the melodies instantly recognizable with national flavor to them. Also – Explosions! Blaster fire! Cannons! and all that great stuff will accompany the main music scores
Everything is pretty standard here (see the tables for reference), except for our idea of Hall of Fame. This idea is determined of what we can do best: to create interesting stuff and to take risks.
At the main menu, right under the title of the game, there is a TV. There is a neon sign «Hall of Fame» nearby. By tapping on the TV, you will be able to look closer to what it is broadcasting. It will be broadcasting...You! If you would support our project with 350$ or more, you can send us a photo of yourself and we would draw a great sketch of it in our game's style, and it would be permanently shown to all of the players in the Hall of Fame. You will be a part of the game! We will send this sketch to you via email as well, so you could print it and use it as poster or picture of some kind. If you have specific suggestions and want to have a specific look – do not hesitate to tell it to us! We can draw almost anything!
The idea of our project originated from my game concept post on «Kanobu.ru» portal. The users gave much positive feedback and comments, and I became eager to actually make this game a reality. I talked to my old friends Petr and Alexander (Sasha) and we decided to develop it independently. However, we didn’t have a programmer. We decided that it would be better to concentrate on graphics, animation, menu, characters, almost anything that was in our competence – and recently we finished all those tasks. ALL OF THEM! Cities, maps, tiles, asteroids, energy systems of The Orb of Death, etc.
All graphics are thus ready to go and just need to be programmed. And we have come to a point where we actually cannot continue without support. We needed funds to license Corona Sdk and Marmalade framework or Unity (as of May 23 – not a problem anymore, Unity for mobile developers is free now!). With those tools, we will be able to release our game on iOS, Android, BlackBerry, W8, Mac OSX, Windows Desktop and Smart TV. Next, we will require funds to hire a team of competent programmers specializing in video games. And composers. And sound designers.

Risks and challenges
We aim to create beautiful, polished, top quality games. We are desperately trying to make our first project – «Kiddy vs. Universum» – as awesome as scientifically possible. During 140 days of development, we did not have a single day off. Holidays? Never heard of them. We have done everything we were proficient in – graphics, concepts, story, game mechanics… Every bit of our free time was invested in the enhancement of the game. Now we need different specialists to carry on. We have set very high quality standards for ourselves and try to keep it that way, and we will expect the same from everyone we will be working with, be it sound design or programming. Every single bit we gain from Kickstarter will be spent on polishing the game. With your support, we will create not «just another indie project», but a GREAT GAME!
