After filming the 8 episodes of the How Do We Sing? web series, creators Jarod Facknitz and Erin Kathleen Flynn envisioned expanding their next concept into a full length feature, one to be submitted to worldwide film festivals, screened at select venues in the Chicago area, and eventually posted for free on Vimeo. The film will explore memory, how it shapes relationships and guides us through life's challenges: preserving the show's penchant for arresting imagery and emotive storytelling.
Funds raised for the film will go toward the construction and maintenance of new puppets, props, film equipment, and promotional fees.
How Do We Sing? is a continuous project focusing on the beauty within existence and is appropriate for all ages; enjoyed by children for its celebration of the everyday while grabbing adults with relatable topics rooted in the notion that the secret to life is ultimately unknowable.
The How Do We Sing? web series received the 2015 Independent Artists Grant from Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs, won Cinematography and Sound Design Awards in Romania's 12 Months Film Festival, and was an official selection in the London International Film Festival, Spain's Painted Birds Film Festival,The Frostbite International Film Festival in Colorado Springs, the Art All Night festival in New Jersey, and the Broken Knuckle Film Festival.
