Game Mechanics Article

Hey all,

I'm super excited to see Nekro gaining a little traction! We still have a long way to go but you guys have proven that this is possible.  You're all the best!

I would like to give those who have been wanting a bit more of a 'technical' explanation of our game a little something to sink their teeth into. We'll be putting up a page describing the game's mechanics and combat system within the next day or two. What I would like to know from you guys is what about Nekro would you like to know more about?

Keep in mind, that even though we have a lot of the game machnics and combat systems already in place, it is still very much pre-alpha. Anything we talk about will be subject to change - and of course - subject to changes via feedback and ideas from the Nekro community. 

Send me a personal message or leave a comment telling us what you would like to know more about - for example how the summoning system works, how the overworld in the game works, the different factions etc.

      hmm i would love some clarification of the map. Will the neutrals and humans who start out at point x be able to move as well attempting to take spots in their path as well? also will neutral randomly just show up resulting in you possibly having to stop your forward progression to return to a spot and save the day ? all of which would be awesome

      I want to know more about the plot. Plot is a huge deal for me.

      I also want to know more about the likelihood of console ports. And about the bare minimum PC requirements. If these are posted and I missed them them then I feel stupid.

      The first game that came to mind when you described the mechanics (like little workers building buildings that make other enemies and such) was the brilliant game Hoard. Is that an apt comparison? Because I'd love a new set of mechanics in that vain.

      I think one of the things that would benefit you would be to detail some more of the monsters you can control, and outline the strategy portion of the game. I feel you have a very solid product, but I don't think you're communicating it well.

      What woud you put in the User's Manual? Put that out there. Maybe, if the engine is far enough along, show some larger battles. What rewards does your necromancer receive for winning battles?

      My feeling is that there's not enough information about what your game is about, and the pitch video really feels like it was aimed more at a publisher than a layman. Alot of the descriptions you give won't mean much to average-joe, while it makes sense to me because of my background, I can definitely see parts where people would be lost.

      You've got a high quality product there, and I'd really like to see it realized, I think you can meet your goals if you tweak your presentation a bit. Maybe also message Rock-Paper-Shotgun, I think they'd be interested in covering you.

      What I want to know is some details about that strategic part of the gameplay (I suppose it's include summoning as well). It's not very clear from the pitch video how you are going to make more units, principles of controlling your swarm and so on. You are saing that it will be like dungeon keeper and giants:sk at the same time, and for me that kind of transition is not kinda clear.

      I raised my pledge as well as I really want this game to happen. I notice the rewards don't have international shipping cost information, did you want to add this in so we know how much extra to add into the pledge?

      I can't think of any questions at the moment (I'm at work, so my brain's not in game mode), but I'm sure I'll think of something...
