About

Hi, my name is Alan Aldred and I'm the developer of 'Jumper'.

Jumper is a game heavily influenced by the Portal series. If you enjoyed Portal, you will love this!

This game is an first person puzzle game that requires the player to use the jump pads to navigate through the challenging chambers.

In keeping with the inspiration from the portal series, the game has been given a very clean, simple and purposeful design throughout.

Jumper is nearing the end of it's development and should hopefully be finished within the next month or so.

Your money will help promote Jumper and give it the attention it deserves. A part of the fund will go towards the $100 fee to list the game on Steam green-light, for possible publishing on Steam. Any excess money raised, I can plough in to getting professional help to really polish off the game for YOU!

The game will primarily be listed on itch.io, but if the game passes the Steam green light process, then it will be available on Steam also.

I have also toyed with the idea of releasing a mod-able version after the games prior release. Where you can use the modular level pieces to create your own maps and share. I think a game like this could really thrive from a mod community. That's not confirmed though and I haven't done any proper research in to that yet.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think! You can also send me a message with any questions and I will be happy to respond as best I can.

I would like to release the game within the next couple of months. However, if I'm able to raise enough funding to gain professional help, I might delay the release of the game to ensure I can put the funds to great use improving the game as much has possible with the money raised

Scheduled platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac

Required specifications: Currently unknown exactly, but the game has been developed to run on fairly low end computers.

Controllers: I was asked today if Jumper will support the use of Xbox controllers. I'm going to take a look in to it and see if it's feasible to include this support. Let me know in the comments your thoughts!

The following are a very rough guide only, to give you a rough idea of what I would consider spending the money on depending on total amount raised.

$100 Pay Steam green light fee and submit Jumper to steam for the selection process.

$100+ Money towards promoting the game and awarding Youtubers who post relevant content.

$500+ Start funding professional help to polish off certain aspects of the game and content. Sounds/music, graphics, trailers, promotional work etc

$1000+ Continued professional assistance

$1500+ Spending on advertising

Risks and challenges

All assets are either my own making, or under CC licence. However, I'm going to be reviewing and double checking every single asset in the game for any possible licencing issues and replace/resolve any items that need attention to be legally compliant. This may include the actual title of the game!

Jumper is already nearing it's end of development and the game will definitely be finished.

One of the main challenges will be simply promoting the game and having the game green lit to be published by steam. That's where your funding comes in! As mentioned above, part of the funding will go towards the $100 fee to join Steam green light. The rest will go towards marketing for the game.

I've also been in contact with YouTube members who upload 'Let's-play' videos, who will be receiving free copies of the game in return for uploading 'Let's play' videos. Some of the money may go towards rewarding these members, if for example they have a vast amount of subscribers.

Since I started developing the game, I have been keeping a regular work in progress forum thread and regular video updates to keep people informed about the games progress. This has also helped to get the game some early exposure prior to it's release.
