We're making the combination charger for Apple Watch and iPhone that we would want to buy.
Über dieses Projekt
As seen on
First of all, thank you for finding our project! We're really excited to be launching our first Kickstarter campaign and our first product. We've been working really hard to create something we ourselves would be proud to own. We've made something awesome and are excited to share it with you.
What is Night Stand and why do I need it?
Night Stand is a combination charging stand for your Apple Watch and iPhone. When we started making a charging stand for Apple Watch it became very clear early on that we needed to include iPhone. They are inseparable and require each other. They're paired together all day. They should stay together at night. That's why we created Night Stand.
Now, do you really need Night Stand? We'll make the best case we can and let you decide.
In the front the watch is supported while making contact with the charging disk and in the back the silicone is slightly thicker to support the band without letting it droop all night.
Night Stand is machined from solid aluminum, which gives it substantial weight. It's a substantial product. You'll feel more substantial yourself just holding it. In addition, micro-suction material attached to the base of Night Stand keep it solidly in place. You'll never use two hands to remove iPhone from Night Stand. However, if you want to move Night Stand you can, and no sticky residue is left behind.
Yeah, but I have a case.
No problem. Night Stand comes with silicone pads to protect Apple Watch and iPhone from rubbing against the aluminum. In order to accommodate iPhones with cases, each Night Stand will ship with two different thickness of silicone pads for iPhone.
Who is Element 13?
Element 13 is made up of a team of two guys who really like making great things.
Bronson Molen is a perfectionist. He has an extraordinary capacity to recognize and appreciate really nice things. He makes sure we go the extra mile to get every little detail perfect. This drives Steve crazy sometimes, but it also makes us push the boundaries of what's possible. We think outside the box because Bronson doesn't know what the box is. Everything is possible to him. It's truly liberating.
Steve Mouritsen is a maker. He's the kind of guy that will take apart a treadmill and make a pottery wheel from the pieces, not because he should but because he can. A self-taught engineer, if there's a way to do it, he'll figure it out. He's also an entrepreneur at heart. Steve's had numerous projects over the years and is super excited to be launching one on Kickstarter.
Why should I back you?
Warning, this may get nostalgic. We believe in dreams. If you have a passion for something why not pursue it and see what you can do? Steve Jobs famously said,
"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."
Night Stand is the product we wanted to have. We didn't want to wait for someone to make it, we wanted to make our own thing that other people can use.
We believe that happiness, greatness, excellence, achievement all go hand in hand. They're all the result of pushing yourself to find out what you're made of. When you're really reaching for something extra that you know you have inside, but don't really know what it is, that's when growth happens. We're ready to grow. If you back us you'll not only get perhaps the most amazing product ever conceived, you'll be helping us grow. There is every reason to be optimistic about the future. Good things are happening, dreams are becoming reality. You're helping.
Does that mean you don't have a plan?
Hold on there Mr. Doubty McDoubty-pants. You bet we have a plan, a really good one. In fact, you're part of it. It goes like this.
1. Have an amazing idea. Work hard to develop it into an amazing product.
2. Get really great people to help make said product and figure out how much the whole thing will cost.
3. Share your plan with the world and get really fun, smart, talented, visionary people to help you make it happen. (See? Here you are! It's called backing the project and you can do it right now. Go ahead, we'll wait.)
4. Follow through on your promises. Deliver happiness like Santa. But in summertime.
5. Feel good about life! (This is optional, but we're gonna do it. You should join us.)
We've worked really hard over the last few months to come up with a product, not an idea for a product and there's a huge difference there. We've worked out many of the kinks and when we say we've got a product ready for production, we really mean it. Our prototypes are first gen products. We're ready right now for the production run. You aren't funding an idea for a product, you're funding a product.
So please back us.
This is the part where we ask for the sale, seal the deal, spit and shake on it. Why say no when it feels so good to say yes? Seriously, you will be helping us more than you know, and you'll get a great product in return. So will you back our project? Thanks.
Risiken und Herausforderungen
This is our first Kickstarter project and we've already learned that not everything goes like you want it to all the time. Unforeseen problems pop up and must be dealt with. The thing about unforeseen problems is that they're not foreseen. So, while we don't know what challenges we have yet to face, we feel confident that we will be able to overcome them and deliver on our promises. Here's our plan to help ensure that.
1. Set a realistic funding goal. Check. If we get funded there's no reason financially we can't follow through. We've accounted for every expense, even the cardboard boxes we'll ship rewards in. So there should really be no surprises there.
2. Don't over promise on delivery times. Check. We know what we can do. We hope to beat our own estimates on shipping rewards, but we've been a little conservative just in case. Better to under-promise and over-deliver than vice versa, right?
3. Be transparent. Let's just say hypothetically that one of those unforeseen problems reveals itself. We'll let you know and tell you if it does affect our ability to meet our deadlines. We'll also tell you how we plan to deal with it.
We're committed to making this project a success. We want to do this again. It makes us happy. We want you to be happy. We want a lot of happiness in general. We'll do what it takes to succeed.
