Have you ever had the skill but lacked the support? Had the position but not the power? Possessed the heart but didn’t have a helping hand? We certainly can answer affirmatively to all of those questions and then some. We are Tamiko Hope, Kevin Gumbo and Fro Jones, writers and filmmakers based in Atlanta, GA who form MercyHope Productions. Collectively, we’ve written, edited and produced hundreds of video projects and documentaries over the years. We love creating and giving birth to new ideas. This is our first child (short movie), which we named SCORE. We decided to do a 30-minute film to get our feet wet, in addition to moving in the spirit of action. All of us subscribe to the mentality of not waiting until everything is perfect and fulfilling as many of our dreams as possible while we’re on this planet. When you back this project, you help give life to our talents and creative vision, as well as put one point on our scoreboard of film projects to follow. Because our cast is mainly comprised of Grammy-winning and nominated producers, we are particularly excited about the score for SCORE, which will contain original music by Sonny Digital with featured collaborations.
What Is SCORE About?
SCORE is a short length movie about the setbacks and stereotypes that go along with the advantages of success in the music business. Set in the Hollywood of the south, Atlanta, GA, a Grammy-nominated producer discovers that branching out creatively will take more than relationships, platinum plaques and name recognition to achieve. Sonny Digital's character is the go-to beat maker for Hip-Hop superstars looking for a surefire hit; but when he decides to solely score movies, he is met with more opposition than opportunity causing him to return to square one in his career.
Who is Involved in this Film?
Tamiko Hope - Producer of SCORE
Tamiko Hope got her start in the world of entertainment as a college intern at LaFace Records in Atlanta, Georgia. She went on to work for Usher and Goodie Mob before launching her own PR and editorial firm Word Ink. Hope has been an integral part of the growing success of southern artists, spearheading national PR campaigns for Grammy award winning artists, producers and DJs. Her clientele has included OutKast, Rocko, Shawty Lo, DJ Toomp, Zaytoven, Sonny Digital, Metroboomin, DJ Spinz, Nipsey Hussle, Que, DJ Scream and DJ Princess Cut, whom she also manages. The pair toured with Oprah Winfrey in 2014 on her 8-city Life You Want Tour. Hope served as label publicist for Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon imprint where she oversaw the projects of Killer Mike, Sleepy Brown, Bubba Sparxxx, Konkrete, Scar and Janelle Monae. She has also contributed to publications and websites such as XXL, Upscale, MTV and Allhiphop. Hope’s writing skills were tapped by ASCAP to compose the print program feature on Jay-Z to commemorate his 2004 Golden Note Award. In 2009, she received the Divine Diva Golden Achievement Award at the Minority Mentorship Symposium in Austin, Texas alongside honorees Letoya Luckett and Eve. She is also a founding partner of MercyHope Productions, an online/TV/film production company. Hope was born in Atlanta, GA and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from the State University of West Georgia. She is the author of the “The Indie Insider” book series with titles that include: “10 Key Facts from Music Industry Insiders” and “5 Key Facts To Building Buzz From Music Industry Insiders.” In addition to PR and writing, Hope is also a public speaker in the realms of entertainment and youth empowerment, particularly young women. She also created and launched the monthly lecture series H.O.P.E, which is an acronym for Hearing Other People’s Experiences. Hope moderates the 30-minute conversation with a serial entrepreneur in a creative field where they share their story on how they attained success on a specifically curated topic.
Sonny Digital - Actor, Film Score
Only 22-years-old and a few years deep in the game, Grammy-nominated producer-artist Sonny Digital has already constructed an arsenal of hits for some of hip-hop’s most prominent names. Scoring homeruns with smash singles that include “Tuesday” by ILoveMakonnen, "Turn Up Like Trump" by Rae Sremmurd, “Birthday Song” by 2 Chainz featuring Kanye West and “Same Damn Time” by Future, the Universal Publishing signee’s star status continues to be solidified. Sonny’s tracks infuse sonically aggressive drum patterns, melodic synths, and catchy hooks, which is why he’s the leading producer of choice for many of your favorite rappers. The mixture of these sounds took him from being a virtually unknown beatsmith with a hobby, to becoming a go-to producer with an enterprising career.
Zaytoven - Actor, Music Supervisor
Grammy-nominated producer Zaytoven has worked with equally accomplished artists including Usher, Nicki Minaj, Future and Young Jeezy. The German-born, San Francisco-raised and current Atlanta hit maker, cemented his burgeoning career when he produced "So Icy" for Gucci Mane. The trap beat became an instant classic solidifying Zaytoven as the hottest producer in the streets. Never one to be satisfied with utilizing just one of his many talents, the musical prodigy scored, as well as starred in and executive produced 2 films ("Birds Of A Feather" and "Finesse"). He also released his first book, From A To Zay, with the assistance of his longtime publicist and writer Tamiko Hope. He is currently working on Birds Of A Feather 2.
Kevin Gumbo - Producer of SCORE
Kevin Gumbo is a multifaceted music business professional with 5+ years experience with artist management, music production and studio engineering. Gumbo’s innovative and experimental approach to leading entertainment projects places him among the new breed of music industry mavens who capably navigates a variety of roles, has a thorough understanding of both major label and independent music environments and utilizes an extensive skill set to consistently create and deliver high-quality music to take artists’ careers to the next level. He is also a founding partner of MercyHope Productions, an online/TV/film production company.
What Happens Next?
We have already coordinated a small team of professionals, which mostly consist of technical crew and equipment that is in place to do the actual filming. Filming locations have been scouted (filming will be done in the Atlanta area) and casting has already been completed. Once the film is funded our team will jump into action. Because this is a short film, we will only need a week to shoot and 3 weeks to edit. As a supporter, you will receive regular updates and behind the scenes peaks. When the filming begins, we'll have an on-set photographer documenting the process.
How Else Can I SCORE?
Spread the word via social media! While the fundraising is a critical part of our focus right now, we also want to engage the community in any way possible. Share our story on your own blog or social media (tag us at @ScoreTheMovie, #scoremymovie, #scorethemovie), and keep an eye out throughout our campaign for other messages of how to get involved.

Risks and challenges
We kept costs low and conservative by using local talent who are supporters of our venture and filming at locations that are owned or managed by supporters as well. Many of the professionals involved are waiving their fees because they believe in this project. The true challenge of the project will be living up to the faith that you have put in us and the faith that we have put in each other. We can all SCORE!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
