About

The most realistic spy game solves biggest complaints with Location-Based games.

We are about one third finished with coding our patent-pending app.

ISPY is the only Location-Based game that fully integrates real locations and real people and players at these locations.

Until now, every Location-Based game has been limited to the app's interface. This means you basically get the same mission over and over and even though you are at a real location in your city, you will not experience any live, mission-related interaction with other people or any kind of realistic engagements with enemy agents. With iSPY, there's no virtual avatars doing the fighting for you. The only way to eliminate enemy agents is by using your own tactics and abilities in the real world.

ISPY is the only game that allows you to complete missions in your city as real enemy agents try to eliminate you. Decipher clues and you will be rewarded. Some rewards are passports to exciting nearby locations while others involve a cash bonus. Fill your agent "go box" with the perks of being one of the top field agents in your metro area.

Various clues and tasks, such as disarming a bomb or opening a safe, will involve "Augmented Reality". For instance, your friend has written a mission containing a clue which leads you to the high-rise office building he works in. The clue's answer takes you to a board room where a safe is hidden in the northwest wall. Using your phone to activate the Augmented Reality, a 3D wall safe pops on your screen and says to use the clue's answer in figuring out the combination.

Engagements with enemy agents can happen at any time during your mission. Preferably, you will see them before they see you. When you spot an enemy agent, you can engage or retreat depending on your preferred tactic at the time. If you want to eliminate an enemy agent you must determine how far away they are and then make sure you have a weapon with the correct range. For instance, if the target is more than 100 feet from you, then you cannot eliminate them with a pistol or a knife.

You will have to maneuver close enough to get your shot off without being detected. If you take a shot out of range, the target is notified via IM that someone is shooting at them. A shot within range that is also a hit will notify the target that they have been eliminated. When you eliminate an enemy agent, you receive Field Experience Points as well as any special items they've accumulated on the mission. Field Experience determines your rank and promotions.

Tapping "Dossier" shows you the enemy agent's info--including photo. Tapping "Engage" switches your screen to "Target Mode" (scope sample shown above. Different weapons will have different scopes). Tapping "Map" will initiate a Google map with arrows showing the enemy agent's live tracking location as well as your own. Tracking stops at 200' from another agent.

Agents will be able to create explosive kill zones of 20' X 20' using GPS markers. Any agents entering that virtual zone will be eliminated. Explosive detectors and defusers will also be available.

ISPY, the Series

One of my contacts within the entertainment industry works at one of the largest network/production companies in the world. He is interested in developing a television series once we have a good following of players.

Another contact wants me on his network's app review show to talk about iSPY, the app.

Red Pill, Blue Pill?

In 2006, I had a dream where I was a spy on a Top Secret mission. Near the end of the dream, I was being chased by enemy agents through a busy city and literally felt as if I was running for my life. I ran across a downtown street, and burst into a CIA-type building, top secret info in hand. The rush I was feeling from completing my mission while avoiding certain death was incredible. Turning around, I expected the enemy agents following me to quickly exit the building. Instead, I saw smiling faces of people congratulating me. Suddenly, I realized that none of it was real and that I had been a part of an elaborate spy game. Still, as I stood there basking in my triumph, I felt that I had just experienced what it was like to be an actual secret agent. Then I woke up, and at that moment, I had a new dream; to create that same feeling and experience for the James Bond in all of us.

Risks and challenges

Since we have already coded the most difficult aspects of iSPY, finishing the full version will be relatively easy.

The challenge will be creating missions for people all around the world, however, we have a multi-pronged plan of action which includes crowdsourcing--ala geocaching and Wikipedia. There are millions of geocaching sites and entries as well as over 100 million edits to Wikipedia annually.

While our programmers finish coding the iSPY app, I will be in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle, putting the final touches on a handful of missions I've written for each area. I have lived in each city for many years so this will not take more than a couple of weeks. Each city will have at least 6 different local missions.

I have been asked to appear on a network's app review show to talk about iSPY so I will be doing this when I am in L.A. The segment will run once iSPY is available for download.

After my brief west coast tour, I will head to major cities like NY, Chicago, and Miami, and I will continue to visit cities all across the U.S..

We expect that many cities will already feature exciting and popular missions before we arrive, and as players complete these missions, some of them will want to create their own missions by using our quick and easy mission creating dashboard. Their friends will play their missions and some of them will want to create their own missions--and so on and so on.

Amongst friends, or within a group or city, mission writing will be kind of a one-up type of thing with bragging rights and cash going to the best mission authors.

Mission authors will also have the chance to write episodes for our television series. As we travel around the country doing our show, the top rated mission authors in each city will work together on creating a new, exciting mission which will include undercover actors, special effects, and all kinds of elaborate features not normally available to mission authors. Authors will also receive a television writing credit and be paid accordingly.

So if you're a former dungeon master, wanna-be screen or TV writer, fan of spy and mystery stories, an artist, someone with a story to tell, or just a creative person who wants to have alot of fun while creating a new type of entertainment for your friends and other people, then you're going to love the mission creating aspect of iSPY.

We will also advertise on Geocaching websites and forums.

Of course we'll also be awarding cash prizes to mission authors who create the most played and highest rated missions in their region, and as iSPY grows, so will the rewards and the notoriety within the iSPY community.

We see iSPY growing into it's own social network with new ways to interact with players all over the world. It's exciting to think how new ideas will come from the iSPY community that will push it into territories I have never imagined.

Another feature ``of our marketing plan is to send an industry recommended intro package to a list of over 150 websites that specifically review gaming apps and receive millions of visitors every month. This free, large-scale advertising will also help produce mission authors.

Other sources for serious and casual writers will come from art schools, writing websites, and groups pertaining to entertainment . ISPY will open up a new avenue for breaking into the industry as we will be offering the chance to be a television writer based on how the public reacts to your work instead of who you know in the industry
