The Herb Wheel is a perfect kitchen-companion for chefs of all kinds with a wide array of foods and the herbs that best accompany them.
$60/$50 REWARD LEVEL UPGRADE: IF we reach $15k, ALL $60/$50 Level Backers will get TWO EXTRA WHEELS + access to our upcoming Grandma Storn's Herb Wheel App ONE MONTH PRIOR to everyone else. AND ACCESS TO OUR BETA even earlier if you want to help us refine and ready it for launch. BUT, the catch or risk is, we have to reach $15K on THIS project and our 2nd Grandma Storn's Herb Wheel 2 App project, which will take place around February and/or March, will also have to be fully funded. (There is a chance that we will make it into an app regardless of that funding. And if we do this REWARD UPgrade WILL be in affect.)
$30/$25 REWARD LEVEL UPGRADE: Like above, IF we reach $15k, ALL $30/$25 Level Backers will get an EXTRA WHEEL + have access to our BETA version to help us refine and ready Grandma Storn's Herb Wheel App for public consumption. This is also contingent upon our 2nd Ks project, Grandma Storn's Herb Wheel 2 App project, being successfully funded. (Though there is a chance that regardless of that project's funding, The Herb Wheel App will go forward. And if it does, this Reward UPgrade WILL be in affect.)
Grandma Storn's Herb Wheel Project
Grandma Storn was an amazing woman: smart, well-educated, and strong. Grandma and grandpa met while gettting their pharmacy degrees at Cincinnati's School of Pharmacology in the 1930's. She was his biology tutor and we are still not sure if grandpa really needed the help or not. They graduated together in 1936 and started their family shortly thereafter. Then around 1944 they bought an existing pharmacy on the corner of 6th & Washington Avenues in Newport, Kentucky, during an era when The Syndicate ran the city. (I have many stories about them during this time but we'll save that for another day.)
Why did I name The Wheel for her?
For several reasons actually. I think, she was the one that gave me the original wheel. Another is that she had her own garden on their pharm (spelled with a 'ph', of course, because they both were pharmacists) in which she grew vegetables and herbs.
But most importantly because with in seconds of entering their home, Grandma would always...always ask you what she could make you to eat. Unfortunately it was shortly after she passed away that I figured out that this was her way of expressing her love for us.
She was a wonderful woman that obviously made a big impression on me. This is my simple way of paying homage to her and offering her something in return for all that she has done for me.
Why we made an Herb Wheel?
One of my cousins needed a place to stay after returning from eleven years in Germany. And since I had the space and lived near where she worked, she moved into one of my extra rooms. (It sounds like I have some big house. Not so. It's a small 'transitional' three-bedroom home.).
Anyway, when she bought her own home and moved out she said the one thing she wished she could take with her was my Herb Wheel. So I thought one would make a great house-warming gift since I use mine all the time. Of course, I searched on the Internet and was shocked not to find anything like the wheel that I had. So, I set out to make one.
We have the design done. The designer, Kelly Larbes, is a friend I met by chance while playing volleyball. She designed The Wheel while in Croatia with her husband, Jay.
The Wheel is made of a thick-stock paper with a 'splash-guard' coating that helps protect against water-based damage. But I still highly recommend keeping it up away from the counter-top. My plan-design is that, if kept well and out of water, it will last for ten or more years. The less it is handled the better which is why I recommend keeping it somewhere semi-permanent.
Most people either get those strip magnets you can get at any hardward store and put The Wheel on the back-side or front of your refridgerator. Or others tape it to the back of a cabinet door, for example, the door to your herbs. The Wheel is thin and flexible enough to keep in your recipe books tho it is, in my opinion, a little too big to do that.
The square part of The Wheel is 11"x11".
Production is nearly finished. All we need is your backing to finalize the process.
The funds raised via this KickStarter project will be used to finish paying for the design and production (and shipping, of course, gotta pay the shippers). Additional funds will be used to start the migration of Grandma Storn's Herb Wheel into an Herb Wheel App which we are already working on a 2nd Kickstarter project specifically to do.
Please join us in paying respect to a wonderful woman that blazed a trail for many to follow and get a great kitchen-companion-aide in the process.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
This project has no downside. There is absolutely no risk in this project for you as a KickStarter. None. Zero. We have already picked the production company and are already producing The Wheel. The only final step is to pay for production, finish packaging them, and get them shipped to you. All you have to do is reap the fun and healthy rewards of a great projuct (project+product).
The only potential risk, for me, is not getting funded, in which case I will finish paying for the production with my personal savings. Our first production run ended with sales all across the U.S. and even some in Canada and England. Everyone that sees and, more importantly, has used The Wheel loves it.
NOTE TO $100 BACKERS: There is a potential risk of the next Ks project (Wheel 2 App) not being funded in which case the Add-On within the $100 Reward would not be fulfilled. That is an risk you would face with me. BUT, based on the popularity of this project and how many people have asked about and already committed to supporting a Wheel 2 App project and that our goal will likely be around $12,500 to $15,000 and that we will likely make it a 30-day project, we should comfortably reach our goal.
Just wanted you to have all the information available for which to decide whether to be ("Yeah, do it. Do it!") a Kickstarter @ the $100 level. Please do!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
