About this project
Cosmic Run: Rapid Fire is a quick and fun dice game designed by Steve Finn of Dr. Finn's Games for 1-2 players, which plays in 15-20 minutes. As with Cosmic Run, its predecessor, Cosmic Run: Rapid Fire takes place in the future, after planet earth has been abandoned and the remaining humans are divided into 2 opposing factions.
The game is a "roll and write" game in which players roll dice and write on their tracking sheets. Cosmic Run: Rapid Fire is a more aggressive game than Cosmic Run because players not only race each other, but are often directly attacking each other (though there is a "friendly" variant that softens the game a little). Furthermore, a hostile alien race places space mines on the paths to planets, posing further problems for humans.
Note: The scoring sheets are double-sided, with one side posing a greater challenge for both players.

The game includes rules for solo play and it has multiple variants to enhance replayability. There's a "friendly" variant for those who want less conflict and a "rapid fire" variant for those who want an even quicker game. Furthermore, the tracking sheets are double-sided with more challenging planet tracks on the B-side.

What about a 3 or 4 player variant?
Eventually, I hope to post a 3-4 player variant for this game, but the reason I did not include this variant is because a 3 or 4 player game will really slow it down. I do not want to make a game for 1-4 players that shines for 1 or 2 players, but bogs down at 3 or 4. In short, I do not want to compromise the mechanics and quality of a game to force it to accommodate higher player counts. That said, I hope to be able to come up with something decent, but it may turn a quick filler game into a longer game that might outstay its welcome to many players. It will take some time for me to develop and I cannot promise a great result. I can say, however, that the game for 1-2 players is pretty darn good.
Kickstarter backers receive a special TechTools promotional pack that includes 3 "TechTools" + 1 instruction card. This pack will only be available during Kickstarter campaigns (though the retail backers of this project will also be given a small number of packs).
- Get a fun game by a highly regarded game designer. All of Dr. Finn's games continue to receive glowing reviews from members of the board gaming community.
- Own a great game to play with gamers and non-gamers. Dr. Finn is well known for designing easy to learn games that appeal to all levels of game players.
- Help bring this game to existence. If this campaign does not fund the game will not be made.
- No post-Kickstarter bargain prices. You will not find Dr. Finn's games on sale at those big online retailers a week (or even a year after) a Kickstarter campaign has ended because I do not sell them my games. I do have my own sales, but I usually wait until the game has been published for a while to do so.
- Receive a Kickstarter exclusive. Get the TechTools promo pack that will not be available other than through Kickstarter campaigns.
- Access to promotional items. This campaign provides an opportunity to pick up other Dr. Finn's promotional items, such as the Institute for Magical Arts promo pack.
- Great bundle prices. This campaign provides an opportunity to get multiple Dr. Finn's games at a great bundle price. Check out the various levels to see the great deals.
- Support an independent game designer. Dr. Finn's Games is not a big company and will only continue with continued successful crowdfunding campaigns.

Many pledge levels include the corresponding promo packs (check details on right). If, however, you want to add a promo pack to your level, please add the funds(s) as specified in the promo pack level. If you have any questions, please message Dr. Finn directly. LIMIT: You may only add 1 promo pack of each type.
Important info about Herbaceous: Herbaceous is not available as an add-on, so it is not part of any other level except the $30 level. This level is the only way to get a copy of Herbaceous with this project (due to limited quantities that I have).
You may add games to any level at or above the $15 level by adding the appropriate amount to your pledge. Dr. Finn's will find out why you added funds after the campaign is over by use of a survey. For those outside the U.S., you must also add the shipping costs based on how many additional games are added to your level. Games will be shipped together with Cosmic Run: Rapid Fire in September, unless otherwise noted.
Promo packs may be added too. For prices, see the $5 promo pack level on right and add appropriate amount to your level. If outside the U.S., please remember to add shipping costs, since these packs are shipped separately (from the U.S.) when going to non-U.S. destinations.
Shipping to the United States: All games going to U.S. backers will be shipped from within the U.S. either directly from Dr. Finn's via USPS or through Amazon fulfillment services.
Shipping to European Union: All games going to non-U.S. destinations will ship from the U.K., which means E.U. backers will not be subject to additional taxes or duties. You will receive a notice when games ship from Games Quest. No tracking information is provided. Promo packs will ship from the U.S. and so may be subject to duties.
Shipping to all other destinations (including Canada): Games will ship from the U.K. All items may be subject to duties and taxes imposed by your country's customs office. You will receive a notice when games ship from Games Quest. No tracking information is provided. Promo packs, however, will be shipped from the U.S. and may also be subject to duties.
Costs: The listed shipping costs for those outside the U.S. are lower than the actual shipping costs because Dr. Finn's Games has reduced your shipping costs by incorporating some of those costs into the prices of the games.
Kickstarter backers have a wide variety of opinions about the purpose of crowdfunding. My own view is that Kickstarter's greatest strength is to help the "little guy or gal" bring something fun, creative, and good into existence, something that would otherwise be left aside. Dr. Finn's Games is a very small company that relies heavily on Kickstarter campaigns to stay in business. My goal is to make sure that backers are pleased with the campaign from start to finish. So, I maintain a good level of contact, with an appropriate amount of updates throughout the process, and I invite backers to contact me directly. I do my best to listen and respond. I've had 10 successful campaigns, almost all of which were completed right on time. The only late project was late by a month. I also try to ensure that my backers are getting the best deal on the game (at least for the first 6 months from release). Since my games are not distributed, you will not find them for sale at on online retailer at 40% off a week after they hit the market (or even months after). Of course, as a game gets older, I often have to sell the remaining copies I have at a discount, but that's usually far down the road.
Let me mention my stretch goal philosophy. I design my games to be whole without needing additional components. I think it is disingenuous to withhold components that are already designed and part of the game, but only get added when a stretch goal is reached. I am not going to do this, even though it is probably against my financial interests since it seems to be a popular thing to do. My primary use of stretch goals is to improve the quality of the components, because I believe backers should be rewarded for helping the project reach higher funding goals.
My promotional pack philosophy is also a part of this. I want to reward Kickstarter backers with access to something special, so I do offer promotional packs that usually just add a little variant to the game, rather than a full expansion. I frequently get requests outside of Kickstarter campaigns for access to the packs, but I do not sell them.

PRIOR KICKSTARTER PROJECTS
All prior Kickstarter campaigns for Dr. Finn's Games have been completed, with the exception of C.O.G., which is still in production and on time.
Game manufacturing and publishing contains a number of risks. For this project, the greatest risks follow from the fact that the games will be manufactured in China and shipped to the U.S. The most serious threat in this regard concerns quality control over the manufacturing. A more likely threat, though less serious, is the possible delays involved. Dr. Finn's can mitigate both of these concerns. First, I will be using a manufacturer who has produced good results on game projects in the past. Second, I have successfully completed almost all of my Kickstarter campaigns right on time or even early (only 1 project was a few weeks late). If any delays do unexpectedly occur, backers will be notified promptly.
If you receive any games that are missing items, please contact me at email@example.com and replacements will be promptly shipped. If the game arrives damaged, you'll receive replacements for whatever is damaged. Please send along a picture, as I may be able to get reimbursed from the shipper. For the past few projects (after switching manufacturers and shipping companies), we've had a very low defect rate (less than 1%).
Refunds are not usually given, unless there is a failure to deliver the games you've requested. However, if you are completely unsatisfied with any game, please contact me and we can discuss it.
Unlike many Kickstarter campaigns, Dr. Finn's Games has a great track record of being on time. Cosmic Run: Rapid Fire is scheduled to be delivered by September 2017. Unless otherwise noted, all other items will ship with Cosmic Run: Rapid Fire at the same time.
If you provide an incorrect address or fail to update your address and a game is returned, it would be nice of you to pay for the re-shipment. However, I have paid for it in the past, though I think it really should be your responsibility.

Through this campaign you may receive updates on Dr. Finn's Games' other projects. However, such updates will be infrequent.
