A sneak peek of Bright Eyes — and a special offer

Sorry to have disappeared for so long!

Just wanted to let you know that I'm still hard at work at Bright Eyes (Seasons of the Sword #2)! To whet your appetite, I thought I'd share a sneak peek at one of my favorite scenes from early in the book, where Mieko gives a lesson to a new pupil — one that I guarantee he'll never forget! Just note—there are obviously some spoilers for Risuko here. (But then you've read that already, haven't you?)

READ "THE LESSON"

Comment there or here and let me know what you think!

I also wanted to share an offer. I know, since you backed Risuko, that you're interested in historical fiction, right? Well, how about historical steampunk time-travel adventure? I helped Heather Albano bring out Timepiecethe first book in her wonderful H.G. Wells-meets-Mary-Shelley-meets-Jane Austen series Keeping Time

It's a fun ride — definitely a great summer read (or good for cold winter nights, if you're in the southern hemisphere).

How'd you like to read it for free?

The second book in the series, Timekeeper, is coming out on Sunday, June 18 — the 202nd anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo. And if you pre-order a copy of Timekeeper and email a copy of the receipt to me at david+timekeeper@risuko.net, I'll send you an ebook copy of the first book for free!

PRE-ORDER TIMEKEEPER

Don't wait! This special offer is only good through June 18.

P.S. If you've read Risuko but haven't had a chance to share your thoughts, I'd love it if you'd post a review on Goodreads or Amazon or your favorite ebook store. Or you can even contact me directly and let me know what you thought directly!
