With SAKAKNIFE, you can easily and quickly prepare a fish while fresh both indoors and outdoors. This knife features the world's first blade capable of both cleaning and filleting a fish, which includes scraping off the fish scales, peeling the skins, and gutting the fish all on its own. SAKAKNIFE will change your cooking life forever.
Versatile knife created by traditional craftsmanship of Japan "SAKAKNIFE"
We have created a stylish and cleverly crafted multi-functional knife with innovative features that the world has never seen.
SAKAKNIFE was developed based on our deep conviction that anyone can fillet a fish with the right tool. The secret is in its shape.
<Our love for SAKAKNIFE>
Fish is an essential part of the Japanese diet. However, in recent years, the Japanese culinary tradition of "preparing a fish at home" has been forgotten by the younger generations. Sensing the urgency to this situation, we have created SAKAKNIFE. Our CEO is a skilled craftsman who loves nature. In his pursuit to learn more about the sea, he received 2 years of fishermen's training. During this time, he saw a sad reality that much of the fish gets discarded just because there were only a handful of people who can clean and fillet a fish.
<How to fillet a fish>
With SAKAKNIFE, you can easily fillet a fish in "3 pieces". 3 pieces refer to boneless left and right halves and a skeleton. You can expand your cooking repertoire as fish will be so much simpler to cook!
Filleting a fish requires skills, but when you have a miracle SAKAKNIFE, specifically designed to fillet a fish, even a beginner cook can handle a fish with ease. Let us explain how in a step by step procedure.
1. Scrape off the scales with "Fish Scale Remover"
"Fish Scale Remover" was perfected and designed in just the right angle to fit between the skin and the scales. Fish scales come off smoothly without scattering all over the kitchen.
For best results, turn the knife sideways and move the blade back and forth like a saw in small rapid movements. It is also recommended for small children because it doesn't require much strength.
The whole blade is curved so that you can easily apply force to the knife while keeping your hand safely away from the fins and barbs.
2. Making trace lines with "J-shaped Blade Tip"
The tip of the J-shaped Blade will make the trace lines for filleting a fish.
* Trace lines help you see where to make the incisions to separate the fish meat and the bones.
Insert the tip of the blade and push it along the bones to separate the fish meat. You can easily cut the belly skin without damaging the internal organs.
3. Cut off the head with "Serrated Blade"
Serrated Blade has a saw-like edge that can cut through hard bones with a little force. You don't need to apply a lot of pressure as you do with other knives. You can slowly cut off the head with way less strength.
4. Fillet a fish with "R-shaped Blade"
Standard knife cuts with its surface, so it's hard to get all the fish meat off. However, with SAKAKNIFE, the R-shaped Blade can scrape off the meat completely along the backbone.
*The tip of the J-shaped Blade is blunted so you can fillet a fish by feeling the bones with your fingers while the blade makes a rattling sound as it hits the bones.
SAKAKNIFE will help you make a healthy choice
When you use SAKAKNIFE, cooking fish becomes fun and easy. Fish contains high-quality "protein" that's easy to digest, "DHA" that supports the growth of new brain cells, "taurine" essential for your vision and for baby's brain, "EPA" that improves blood vessel health, and so much more. Fish is a great source of nutrients that prevent high blood pressure and lifestyle diseases.
One knife for all sizes!
Filleting a fish requires various types of knives. The basic rule is to use a different knife for different fish size and shape. But who would keep so many knives at home? SAKAKNIFE can fillet a fish of any size because the multi-functional blade will let you go through each part bit by bit instead of in one sloppy stroke.
Let's eat a whole yummy fish
A store-bought fillet gets easily oxidized and spoils quickly. But a whole fish stays fresh for a long time. You can also enjoy cured fish for a more savory taste too.
Fish meat is not the only parts you can eat. You can grill the skin crispy or blanch in boiling water and eat with ponzu (soy sauce and citrus juices.) Skin is as nutritious as the fish meat and rich in collagen, vitamin, DHA, and EPA. You can easily remove the scales with SAKAKNIFE to enjoy the fish skins.
Bones and fish head will make delicious dashi (broth). Deep fry the bones to make fishbone crackers as a healthy snack for children or nibbles for your drink. "Mottainai" is a phrase familiar to the Japanese for a long time. It means to have respect and a sense of gratitude for the resources around you. Having "mottainai" spirits can turn waste into a nutritional snack. By eating a whole fish, each household can cherish animal life.
SAKAKNIFE was created to fillet a fish safely and easily. Keeping in mind the essential points, even a child can fillet a fish beautifully. You'll hear them gasp in happy surprise saying, "the fish tastes exceptional when I fillet it myself!", "It felt great to cut the fish so beautifully", and " I didn't think I could do it!"
You'll instill in your children the appreciation and understanding of what it means to take life as one's food, which leads to the concern for the environment as well. That is something you can't learn from a store-bought fillet.
"SAKAKNIFE" can do so much more
SAKAKNIFE has been developed to fillet a fish. However, this multi-functional blade of the master craftsmen can also serve as an all-purpose knife as well.
1. Serrated Blade->Slicing frozen block of meat, or cutting ropes in outdoor activities.
2. Fish Scale Remover (blunt)->Cutting meat fibers
3. J-shaped Blade->Removing tendon from chicken breast, or open crab legs
4. R-shaped Bade->Cutting up into small pieces
Use it any way you like! We believe this revolutionary knife will keep on evolving through the hands of users like you.
Have a great time using SAKAKNIFE at a fresh sushi party at home or a camp in a lushly green field.
"SAKAKNIFE"is an evolving knife with many usages.

Urushi tree exudes sap when the tree is damaged to heal the wounds. Urushi is remarkably rare material, as you can only get 200g (0.7oz) of Urushi out of the sap produced from a single tree.

Designed by an experienced fisherman, who is also a sculptor of models/Buddhist statues
[TAPP Co., Ltd] Hello! We make models of bronze statues, anime character statues, and Buddhist statues. Our work is to turn 2D displays into lively 3-D figures. As a model sculptor, we create faithfully on client's request. In 2003, we produced the nation's first squid shaped lure as TAPP Craft. My desire to learn directly from the sea professionals led me to take 2 years of fishery experience and established TAPP Co., Ltd in 2014. We manufacture models of Takaoka copperware, display models for aquarium and museum, and squid shaped USB memory sold at the gift shop in the New York Museum of Modern Art. Other than fishing lure, we also design and manufacture canoes, dutch ovens, knives, and other outdoor products.
[G-Sakai] Established in 1947 in Seki, the town of traditional Japanese blades.
G-Sakai holds a spirit of Japanese samurai with a firm belief in blade making. While honoring traditional methods and techniques, they succeeded in developing new steel material. Each SAKAKNIFE, renowned for its sharp cutting blade, is carefully made by the hands of the master craftsmen.
