An adventure game of mystery, survival, and prehistoric beasts, powered by the apocalypse. Designed to be played in a single session.

Somewhere far from prying eyes or accidental discovery lies an island where dinosaurs still walk the Earth. Whether these dinosaurs are the result of human experimentation, have lived hidden for millennia, or are something else is up to you to discover. The important thing is... they’re here, and so are humans, whose high-tech stations litter the island, their purpose unknown.
Oh, and you’re here, too. Just in time for things to really go south. Will you escape the island with your lives? And what kind of person must you become to survive?

Escape from Dino Island is a game of adventure, survival, and mystery based on Apocalypse World by D. Vincent Baker & Meguey Baker. It's designed for 3-6 players to tell a single thrilling story over the course of one or two sessions lasting 3-4 hours each.

This zine edition contains the complete rules for Escape from Dino Island, along with a wealth of resources we've developed during playtesting to make it easy to run a game filled with interesting dinosaurs, compelling mysteries, and captivating suspense, including:

What makes Escape from Dino Island different?
Escape from Dino Island's rules are built to capture the spirit of stories like Jurassic Park, Lost, or Half-life. These are stories about real-world heroes who are competent and brave, but also in over their heads; they're full of action and suspense, but fighting is rarely a good option.
They're also stories about how people react to near-impossible odds. Will the heroes rise to the occasion or crack under the pressure? Will they put their own safety first or band together to survive?
The adventure stories we love also have a healthy dose of mystery, and this one is no exception — Dino Island is full of secrets. But creating a compelling mystery in a no-prep one-shot game is challenging for even a skilled Dino Master. Escape from Dino Island's mystery tools give you everything you need to hook the players and then pay the mystery off.
Every part of Escape for Dino Island is built for ease of play and replay value. One session might see the heroes fleeing from a corporate security force, while another might see them finding a way back from the Cretaceous Period.

Who are we?
We're two similarly named friends who've been collaborating and gaming together for years. Coming out of the film and television industry, we're suckers for the kind of stories Escape from Dino Island is based on and excited to bring them to our — and your — gaming tables.
Sam Tung is a Los Angeles-based storyboard artist whose two greatest passions are tabletop games and drawing dinosaurs. His work can be seen in feature films including The Jungle Book and The Dark Tower. He's thrilled to be making projects like this one, that let him (and you) relive the adventures you made up as a kid with your toys. Sam Roberts is a Brooklyn-based writer who's been playing and running tabletop games for most of his life. He co-created the award-winning (kickstarted!) online series, Red Scare, and has worked on television shows including Prison Break, Party Down, and Netflix's Maniac. He's perhaps more famous, at least among his gamer friends, for the time he successfully grappled an otyugh.
Risks and challenges
The game text and zine layout are almost final and art is already well underway. The only delays might come from printing issues or us coming up with a really cool idea we simply have to get into the game before it prints.
