The Experimental Glass Theatre is an innovative component of The Conway Open Studio Project - a six month arts initiative featuring area artists working in collaboration to invigorate the arts in downtown Conway, South Carolina. The goal is to raise the awareness of art-making as a career and to introduce visitors to entertaining, educational and fun art experiences.
The first Experimental Glass Theatre will be presented on Saturday, November 8th from 8pm - 10pm where glass blowing will be featured as performance art within the backdrop of the glass blowing studio. This is where you come in!
Pledge $25 or more and receive a glass blowing class or blown glass and a free ticket(s) to the Experimental Glass Theatre on November 8th. We expect this event to sell out as tickets are limited.
This is a great opportunity for you to support an awesome art project and to attend a fun and entertaining evening out to see the very first Experimental Glass Theatre in historic downtown Conway, SC!
Risks and challenges
The Conway Open Studio Project is a work in progress culminating March 2015 with an Experimental Glass Theatre and a gallery show featuring new glass by resident artists Ed and Barbara Streeter. During the process, Barbara will blog about the Conway Open Studio Project and art making in downtown Conway, South Carolina. Follow here: http://www.conwayglass.com/blog/
A South Carolina Arts Commission grant has provided $5000 towards the $7500 Conway Open Studio Project budget. Our task is to match the $5000 grant with an additional $2500. Our budget provides for studio renovations, new lighting, video and audio equipment and advertising. Also, six First Saturday Glass Blowing Demonstrations (free to the public) and three Experimental Glass Theatre performances (ticketed events) will take place between now and March 2015.
If we are funded beyond the initial $2500 we are seeking - now that would be amazing! With additional funding we will make the studio even more accessible to the public by improving the gallery and studio entrances and adding additional visitor seating.
We thank you for your support and we hope to see you at one of our upcoming events or in a class real soon!
