VO Gloves came from necessity, and since necessity is the mother of invention, we bring you a simple invention that meets the needs and solves many of the problems associated with gloves.
Whether skiing or snowboarding on the mountain, where this idea was conceived, or at a cold ball game, a hockey game, out for a walk, on a ride, taking that perfect picture, making that call, sending that text, or even updating your FaceBook with yet another selfie, you will always need to remove a glove to use your hands.
We have found the optimal location for an opening on a glove that allows for quick and convenient access to hands, letting you keep your gloves on!
When you can put your gloves or mitts on one time, and establish the seal with your coat to keep out cold air and snow, and then you don’t have to do those steps again for the rest of the day…. you have just saved a bunch of time you can use being more involved in your activity.
Many benefits from one simple opening:
-Saved time by keeping your gloves on
-No more dropped or misplaced gloves
-Being able to regulate the temperature of your hands with a simple zip
-Drying your gloves out at the end of the day by leaving your gloves unzipped and open
THIS is what I call killing multiple birds with one stone. And while I do not promote throwing rocks at birds, it is the best way for me to tell you that you will absolutely LOVE these gloves!
No corners were cut, these gloves are top shelf, with the best feature added to a glove since goretex.
Our goal is to raise enough money to reach the minimums set by our extremely high quality manufacturer, so you can get a pair of these on your hands, and start enjoying your activities more.
We want to make many more styles of gloves with this convenient zipper opening, and we will use any extra funds for the Research and Development to accomplish this. And while anyone can wear these gloves we have designed, we want to have gloves and mittens specific for women, children, hunting and fishing, construction applications, general cold weather, mountain biking, motoX, the sky is the limit but we are starting off with this current pair which can be used for any of these activities.
We appreciate your support, KickStarter. This is such an awesome venue for creativity to come out. We love seeing all of the incredible ideas and projects everyone has and we are grateful for the opportunity to share ours. We look forward to many of you enjoying your new VO Gloves.
In this video, you can see that you can put on one glove with your hand, get it all set with your coat, and then UNZIP, pull your hand out, and put on your other glove with your hand. So much easier! Then, you never take your gloves off again, all the way, until lunch or the end of the day. It just makes sense!
We have completed the specifications with our manufacturer and they are ready to produce.
On a ski lift in Utah, on a warm spring day, I was once again removing my gloves because my hands were hot. I did this ritual every time I got on the lift, or anytime I needed to get something out of my pocket. (cell phone, tissue, candy bar, chap stick, etc) I had to break the seal between my coat and gloves, and reestablish that seal when I put the gloves back on. This is a hassle that is common to everyone, a hassle that takes time away from your activity.
As usual, and like everyone else, I would tuck the gloves under my leg, put them in my jacket, or have them dangle from strings connected to my wrists. I even dropped one off the lift one time.
I figured there had to be a way I could fix these problems with an opening on my glove, being able to access my hands without breaking the glove/coat seal. I looked at the back of my hand and thought this would be the best location for the opening.
I took a pair of old gloves and cut them open in the area I thought would work best. Beginners luck, they worked better than I had ever imagined.
I liked what I was seeing, but I had to make a pair that I could actually test out on the mountain. I got another old pair of gloves and made the same opening in both pair. This time, however, I needed to have a zipper where it would block out any cold air that might come in. I got some fleece and doubled it over and sewed it to the zipper before adding it to the glove opening. This fleece on both sides of the zipper comes together to form a "fleece gasket" that effectively keeps out cold air.
This pair was better than the first, I was ready to test them out on the slopes.
I got on the same lift where I had the idea, wearing my modified zipper gloves. I unzipped and pulled my hands out. I was so excited to use them and my friends immediately saw the benefits and they all wanted me to make them a pair.
My skills in making a quality pair of gloves or mittens were far from adequate to satisfy the demands of fellow skiers and snowboarders.
I did my homework and I was able to find a high quality manufacturer to make my dream a reality, and we are now happy to bring you the VO Gloves.
Being an avid snowboarder, I always pay attention to my gear, what I like, what I don't like, what I wish I had.
Gloves and Mittens are one of the most important pieces of gear anyone will have, on and off the slopes, for cold weather or even simple hand protection.
I wanted this wonderful feature to be on a glove that was durable, warm, and would last me multiple seasons, even with rigorous use. High-grade leather on the palm, fingers, back of hand, even an extra leather portion on the palm for high-wear, all go into making these gloves a dream pair to have.
In going with a high quality manufacturer, and paying a premium for that quality, I am glad to have anyone test them out to see that they are worth every cent with the glove alone, not even including the zipper opening that sets them apart from every other glove out there.
We are planning on this project getting funded. We have been able to work with our manufacturer on a timeline as to when this gets funded, and when the manufacturer will be finished with production. Our manufacturer makes hundreds of thousands of gloves a year. We are confident that upon reaching our goal, our manufacturer will not have a problem delivering consistent gloves that are the same as the sample pairs we have signed off on for production. Our manufacturer has ISO certifications that ensure that each pair is double checked for quality many times throughout the production process.
The exact steps taken upon reaching our goal and completion of the KickStarter campaign are the following:
1. We will send out the survey to all backers requesting your desired size. *******If you are wanting multiple pairs, at the time of placing your pledge, simply add the amounts together and place your pledge for that amount. In the survey you will be able to specify the sizes that you would like.*****
2. We will then add up all of the sizes to be ordered through our manufacturer.
3. We will place the order with our manufacturer, at which time they will order all of the material necessary to make all of the gloves we have requested.
4. We will keep all supporters updated on the progress of this order. Our manufacturer has given us a time of about 90 days for the order to be completed. We wish we could have this be no longer than 30 days, but we do not want to compromise quality in order to have the gloves made too quickly. We appreciate your patience and we know that you will be happy once your VO Gloves arrive.
5. Upon arrival of the gloves, we will already have packaging ready to go, along with addresses, sizes and quantities on the packages so we can get them sent out to you as soon as possible.
6. You will get your gloves and be so incredibly stoked that you will post so many pictures of your hands out of your gloves on your Facebook pages and Twitter accounts, that it will melt down the internet. We will all rejoice, and work hard together to get the internet back up and going….. =D
As stated above, there are multiple solutions from this simple zipper opening. In addition to Saving Time and No More Dropped Gloves, other benefits include the following.
Hand Temperature Regulation: Unzip your gloves/mittens when your hands are hot, and let cool air inside. This let's your hands air out, and your gloves air out at the same time. Slip our hands back in and keep them from sweating, and getting your gloves wet from the inside.
Quick Dry: At the end of a long day of work or play on the slopes or the job site, leave them in the open position and they will dry out in a fraction of the time of a regular pair of gloves.
Gloves OR Mittens: Because of the strategic location of the zipper opening, you have access to your hands in your choice of either gloves or mittens.

We are exploring all of the many different uses for this opening on the back of the glove. We have people testing them in different situations all coming back with raving reviews. As we grow, we will be making more and more specific gloves to meet the demands of people in these different industries.
We would love to hear from you upon receiving your gloves as to what you like most about them! Any ideas or suggestions are always welcome.
I just read the story about a guy named Brian Fargo who after 20 years of rejection on his idea to make his video game sequel, was able to find huge success from KickStarter. He started a website that is geared towards helping out other people who are following their dreams and passions. He asks those who have been successful from crowd funding to kick it forward, and use some of your profits to help out others in their campaigns as well. I think this is a great idea. Thank you, Brian Fargo.
The risks and challenges are the timing we have with the high quality manufacturer we use to make the gloves, as stated above.
Once the KickStarter campaign is complete, if we have reached our goal and get the sizes and quantities of gloves for all of you wonderful backers, we will then place the order with the manufacturer. This time is the only draw back, but oh so worth the wait! The manufacturer has given us about 90 days until production is complete. We will send them out to everyone who has ordered a pair the moment we receive them.
We are hoping this number is more than we can handle, and that we will need to bring in outside help in order to fulfill all rewards as soon as they arrive from the manufacturer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
