Horror Fiction for fun? You bet.
Who doesn’t like a little fright from time to time? We sure do. And, lucky for us, Horror Fiction has been around a long, long while, showing no signs of letting up in the creative corner of the human mind and heart. At first glance, most associate Horror Fiction with the modern novel, thanks, in part, to legends like Stephen King, Peter Straub, Shirley Jackson, Ira Levin, William Peter Blatty; this list goes on and on and on, of course. But, I believe most people would be surprised to find out that much of the history of Horror Fiction lies in the form of the short story. From Poe to H.P. Lovecraft to M.R. James, the tradition lives on, and DeadLights Magazine wishes to follow in good form, publishing Short Stories, Poetry, Editorials, Reviews, and Art inspired by inner-darkness. Our goal is to help new, up-and-coming writers establish their name in the Horror Fiction field, giving a chance to all who love the dark arts as much as we do.
Risks and challenges
There are few risks in the age of electronic publishing. We plan to produce a print copy in a limited supply, and we believe that the e-pubs will easily cover the cost of this endeavor. We also look forward to profit that goes back toward the magazine, so that we can pay our up-and-coming authors and artists better!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
