Whether you are a wizard or novice, warfare and roleplaying games are an exciting hobby that can bring you great memories and create friendships that will last you a lifetime. The roleplaying game in this book focuses on the hero’s journey, from a ragtag band of adventurers the hero takes on special quests to progress. Eventually the player can command massive armies and besiege fortresses, taking on mighty foes.
This game is meant to be a marriage of party based pen and paper roleplaying game with tactical and strategy based war gaming.
The main inspirations for my book was my lifelong love of war gaming and roleplaying games and the works of Gary Gygax, Monte Cook, H. P. Lovecraft, Philip K. Dick, Hideaki Anno, Carl Jung, and William Shakespeare.
The book is 500 pages long currently and features over 15 races and starting archetypes to play as and has rules for combat in three scales of war. I have an action system that keeps both the judge and players involved in events and many different random event tables to keep combat situations interesting.
9413 is a warfare and roleplaying game system filled with deadly action, constant danger, satisfying challenge, and gory death. This book focuses upon medieval warfare in a Hobbesian nightmare where life is nasty, brutal, and short. This book is for either player or judge and includes all the rules needed to play the game. The book includes: Rules for character generation, backstory, equipment, mounts, vehicles, and mastery abilities. Bestiary of all manner of foul creatures which inhabit the land, sky, sea, and beyond. Rules for warfare at the breach, raid, and siege levels. Lore about artifacts, places, and organizations.
The book is plain in format and lacking adornments; I currently do not have plans to add artwork to it. The book currently reads much like a quantitative research document and has a great deal of tables and statistics so that other people like myself who want a strange new table top pen and paper warfare and roleplaying game to play, can play it and have fun.
I have no illusions about the project and my games limited appeal. Thus I have created the Kickstarter so I do not need to compromise or appeal to the masses by altering the work and taking it to an established publishing house.
Risks and challenges
The book content is complete thus there are few concerns to the product.
The editing of the book will be completed by a professional editing service which has quoted me a price within my goal.
Playtesting may prove a challenge since it will be labour intensive for myself, however, I enjoy running pen and paper games and have done so since a young age.
I am qualified to undertake my because of my past education record; I have a masters degree and completed a quantitative research thesis which is an extremely labour intensive and difficult endeavour. I have no other current projects and thus this will be the focus of my time and passion. Furthermore, the book is complete.
