Wolves make the best parents. This is a short about that fact.
We had some technical difficulties with the video. Please read about our project to fill in the blanks. Thank you!
THE CUB is a comedy about a little used but highly effective parenting technique that guarantees a lifetime of happiness and success for your child most likely at the expense of others.
I can't really say too much about the actual plot of the film without giving anything away but I can tell you it's funny, weird, absurd, and scary... sort of a strange hybrid of my two shorts CASQUE and MAGNIFICAT.
I wrote and will direct the film as well as will executive produce with my wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The wonderful Jamie K. Wheeler, who produced MAGNIFICAT, will produce. The film will be shot in Los Angeles, CA in late March or early April and we will be submitting to festivals.
The purpose of this Kickstarter campaign is to help offset the cost of producing the film. We've got to pay for the usual suspects (camera rental, location costs, and craft services) but I'd also really love to be able to compensate crew members who might normally have to work for little to no pay. A lot of people work very hard to make a film happen and they deserve everything we can give them.
Any amount over our goal means the film will look and sound better than it already will. Money doesn't necessarily make a film better but money gives very talented people (like our cinematographer and our sound designer) the ability to make a film better. Right now the plan is to shoot on the Red One camera but if we exceed our goal I would love to be able to use the Arri Alexa to give us the best possible image going into post. And if we reach an amount that allows us the chance to shoot on film I'd jump at the opportunity.
I can't thank you enough for visiting our page and for reading about our little film. It means a lot.
Let's make a movie,
Mary isn't going to be in my short this time around. She is, however, co-executive producing the film with me.
I may have been a bit unclear when it comes to the rewards. Basically whatever level you select you'll also receive the rewards in the level(s) that precede it. The only reward that you won't get (unless you specifically chose it) is the VHS of all my shorts since it's a limited to five copies. Hope that clears things up.
