Smokestackers! is a collection of the eleven best Live in Everett history articles I've written.
They're tales about bygone people and places of our beloved city. The 5" X 7" 32-page book is an exciting popular history in a beautiful, durable, easy-to-read print format. If funded, a limited run of 200 books will be produced, each with cover art and interior illustrations by Everett-based graphic designer and artist Sierra Rozario.
The book will be printed by independent printer Alexander Printing Co. Alexander, on Rockefeller, have been printing in Everett since 1886.
Most of these articles are biographical and follow a given character arc: Everett underdog succeeds despite the odds and inspires others.
Read all about Everett outliers such as "Wildcat" Carter, Scoop Jackson, Carol Kaye, Carl Gipson, Betty Spooner, Razz Canonica, and the surprising Muffler Man.
I hope these stories will inspire you, too.
Risks and challenges
The challenge here, as with any crowd-funded project, is that the book won't meet its financial goals. That is, the project will die before it sees the light of day. I believe there are enough people who love this weird Smokestack City to make this book happen. Won't you chip in?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
