The School of Life Project is all about empowering an unlimited amount of children with their own stories. After all, there is nothing more important nor enduring than one's own story and once you can tell it, you discover that you're its best author. We've helped 250 kids tell their own stories over the last 10 years, but we wanted to find a way to bring it to the masses.
Enter the Video Journal Kiosk. We have been developing this product for the past year, and we believe that with your support we can produce enough kiosks to make a difference in the world one story at a time.
In order to get 10,000 kids involved, it's going to cost a lot. This is why we are turning to kickstarter. As it is, we offer the kiosk with storage for 250 kids for a year to schools for $5,000. That cost comes out to $20 per kid per year. Less than yearbook photos! We are committed to keeping this cost low so that all kids in the world can do it.
Costs associated with getting 10,000 kids involved are sourcing and manufacturing plastics, hardware and lighting associated with the kiosk, global shipping costs of the kiosks, high quality printing of supplemental curriculum materials, and digital storage.
Additionally, we have created a curriculum to accompany the kiosk experience. A number of the kids involved in the project have opted to become "ambassadors," and have decided to share their story with others in hope that they can inspire and encourage others who are navigating the challenges of adolescence. We call these stories the "Listen" series, and we have developed thoughtful follow-up questions to each episode.
With $25,000 we can roll out our first production line and offer them to institutions or individuals who want to have their stories recorded and kept secure for their future. We believe in the ability of this kiosk to make the world a better place through empathy and understanding.
$25,000 will start us on our way to getting 10,000 kids involved, but that's not all it's going to take. We hope to build a community around this Project, and then spread the word in many other ways. We're partnering with local philanthropists and visionaries who share the same belief in the power of story, and establishing connections to organizations whose missions mirror our own. By combining the critical mass attained with this Kickstarter campaign, and uniting influential individuals, schools, and organizations, we believe that we can reach the 10,000 kids mark. It's going to take a lot of work, but the most essential piece to this puzzle is awareness, and that starts with you. So if you believe in helping kids like we do, please tell someone you know about this Project!

Risks and challenges
Every school we have talked to sees the value in The School of Life Project, however budgets and timelines make it challenging to adopt. It is up to us to prove that we have the perfect system and that the community as a whole believes in our product and mission.
We have an excellent team in place, and we are dedicated to producing these kiosks and empowering kids through their own stories. We will have challenges associated with but not limited to: production timetables, school bureaucracies, and budgetary restrictions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
