About this project
Pyramids. Big magic triangles on the horizon, probably from space. I love 'em, you love 'em. Pyramids. Because we couldn't get city approval to make crop circles. Pyramids. Cosmic healing, intergalactic communication. Pyramids really exist.
I've decided to bring pyramid power right to my beloved hometown ATL's own backyard. This summer, my bandmates and I received a grant from the Atlanta BeltLine's Volunteer Art committee for the construction of a 10ft. pyramid sculpture which will soon be nestled into the foliage along the West Side Corridor of the BeltLine. Construction is already underway! My dear friend and former bandmate Mario Schambon, as well as my current drummer Colin Agnew, are lending their hands with the brawnier aspects of pyramid construction. Follow my Facebook BandPage for pictures.
Once the pyramid's frame is built, we will be artistically covering the whole thing with reclaimed treasures: junk, refuse, recyclables, formerly cherished possessions fallen into disuse, childhood toys, broken furniture, you name it. A very important part of your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help us collect these materials by donating any items you might have lying around the house that you'd like to see attached to a magnificent pyramid.
And that's just the beginning. Upon completion of our masterpiece, we're flying down our friend Barry Alexander Brown, independent film director and video editor for Spike Lee for the last 25 years, from New York City. Barry was film editor of Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing, The Inside Man, and Salam Bombay (Director Mira Niar), among many others, and is (at the time of this writing) at the Venice Film Festival supporting his and Spike Lee's documentary on Michael Jackson. He'll be shooting a music video for my song "Pyramids," featuring our sculpture. It's sure to be a gorgeous production, and once it infects the internet like the plague, it will help to bring national attention to beautiful Atlanta and its BeltLine initative. Win win situation!
Although we've already gotten off to a great start thanks to the help of the BeltLine committee, your pledge helps us afford airfare and housing for Mario Schambon and Barry Brown, many additional construction materials, the myriad production costs for the video shoot including props, sets, costumes, makeup, equipment, lighting, and post-production editing; the cost of dismantling our sculpture for the BeltLine and hopefully bringing it home intact, and more. Be assured that if our Kickstarter project goes over budget, surplus funds will be put to good use! I still need to hire a publicist, booking agent, and management, go on tour, finish 2 more albums currently underway in the studio, and come up with video concepts for the other singles on "Organismo"! I'd also like to hire a team of artists to build pyramid-themed stage decor for when we go on our explosive and unforgettable cross-country tour!
Once your pledge is made, and you've felt the warm breeze of Adron's gratitude tickle your heartstrings, PLEASE consider donating physical materials for the bedazzling of our pyramid. We're looking for:
Books, clocks, CDs, LPs, Lite Brite pegs, Nintendo controllers, toys, fishing poles, bicycle parts, computer keyboards, hubcaps, license plates, coffee cans, streamers, street signs, colored glass, tiles, mirrors, toy trains and tracks, table and chair parts, door knockers, animal bones, teeth, skulls, pinwheels, bottle caps, dishes, silverware, rebar, building materials, hand tools, board game boards, chess pieces, playing cards, thrift store paintings, broken musical instruments, shells, fake flowers, halloween masks, mardis gras beads, keys, and... use your imagination!
If you have materials like the above to donate, EMAIL ME at email@example.com, so we can set up a drop-off.
Thanks for checking out our project. Share on Facebook and spread the word, pyramids f***in' exist!
