A burned-out Santa Claus reluctantly embarks on his last chimney crawl but finds his Christmas spirit when a zombie apocalypse threatens to destroy the world.
Meet Santa. He’s having a mid-life crisis. He hates his job and wishes he was doing anything else other than being Santa. He’s just going through the motions and that’s why he doesn’t notice the zombie apocalypse until it’s almost too late. Saved by two kids, he at first tries to get back to the North Pole only to discover that his reindeer have been eaten. On the run and just trying to survive, Santa befriends the kids and falls in love with their recently-divorced mother. Soon Santa rediscovers his Christmas spirit and does everything he can to save Christmas for the kids—even if it means his own death.
Hello there! My name is Koji Steven Sakai, the creator of Santa vs. Zombies!
Santa Vs. Zombies is a natural for me because it is the follow up to my well-received zombie book Romeo & Juliet Vs. Zombies (linked to Amazon). But I don’t just love to write about zombies. I love everything zombie related. I believe I have read every zombie book and seen every zombie movie ever made. Secretly, I’ve been prepping for the zombie apocalypse for many years. Just don’t tell my wife. She probably wouldn’t approve.
But Santa Vs. Zombies is more than just a zombie story. Because at its heart, it’s my way of conveying that all of us—even Santa—sometimes need to be reminded what Christmas is really all about. My hope is that Santa Vs. Zombies is the kind of holiday story that everyone can enjoy.
We've brought it to Kickstarter to help fund the printing of the book. The book itself is COMPLETE. It's a 60 page graphic novel that is completely finished! We just need a little help getting it into print and out into the world!
Right now, we're looking at printing 1000 perfect bound softcovers with 10 pt covers with gloss cover finish and 70 lb text interior gloss pages.
If we reach our goal of $3000 and go beyond, we'll increase the quality of all the books with these stretch goals!
$3500 - 12 pt cover with gloss cover finish.
$4000 - 85 lb text interior gloss pages.
$4500 - 14 pt cover with gloss cover finish.
$5000 - French fold covers added.
$5500 - Hardcovers!
Romeo & Juliet VS Zombies Novel (PDF)
“Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we raise our dead.”
Romeo — the only heir to the Montague name, a socialite who dreams of making a name for himself as a playwright and the consummate lover; he seems just as famous for his kissing skills as he is infamous for his inability to do much of anything else.
Juliet — Capulet heiress, born soldier; in most every way, the precise opposite of Romeo. She’s spent her entire life trying to find some way out of her insufferable life as a noblewoman, and so far she’s had precious little luck.
When a black plague breaks out in the city of Verona, these two feuding families are met with far more trouble than a mere feud, no matter how longstanding and bloody that feud has been. In this grim reimagining of Shakespeare’s most famous tragic romance, Romeo and Juliet must form an unlikely alliance if they ever intend to survive being overrun by a horde of ravenous, flesh-seeking un-dead.
442 Graphic Novel (PDF)
Written by Koji Steven Sakai and Phinny Kiyomura, and illustrated by Rob Sato, “442” is based on one of World War II’s most compelling and important stories. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was the U.S. Army’s Japanese American segregated fighting regiment. The 442nd would become the most decorated unit of the War, and the most decorated unit of its size and length of service in American history. Even with their families confined behind barbed wire in American concentration camps, these soldiers fought to rescue a Texas battalion lost behind enemy lines. A fictionalized account based on the actual events, “442” follows young Japanese Americans soldiers as they suffer prejudice, internment and terrible casualties in in their battle to rescue the Lost Battalion.

In 2014, we decided to take all our years of experience developing projects for clients and plunged into publishing our own books and games. We have a deep passion for trans-media, so the majority of our projects are planned to be released in different media, comics, graphic novels, games, and fiction as well.
In 2017, Outland Entertainment acquired Ragnarok Publications and brought an incredible library of intellectual property, anthologies, and a distribution deal through Independent Publishers Group (IPG) into the fold. We are currently in talks with several other distributors to carry our games and comics.
Risks and challenges
Common risks and challenges include poor production planning and unaccounted for shipping headaches. In this case, the production on the book is complete. All art is done and turned in. Lettering is final. And all design is finished. The book is DONE.
The only place where we may run into issues with is printing and fulfillment, as you can never account for printing or shipping delays. Fortunately, we have a reliable printer that we've worked with before. Our printer also offers fulfillment, which again, we've used before. So while it's possible there could be a hiccup with fulfillment, we anticipate that everything will go smoothly.
And in the event that it doesn't, we'll keep you updated. We will commit to bi-weekly updates on the project and we will make sure that you know everything we know.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
