Hotel Anthology Magazine is an anthology project focusing on creating a platform for comic artists, new and experienced, to display their work for people to read. This magazine uses a hotel room as a basis for a setting and the rest is entirely up to the creator as to what happens in it! The artists involved have worked long and hard to create comics that will be both fun to read and inspirational to those who want to create comics!
In order to make this the coolest and most inspirational comics anthology we need your help! All money raised will go towards making the book and compensating the participating artists.
Hotel Anthology magazine is created and curated by Nathan Hill (Illustrator, creator of many zines) and is assisted by Jack Devereaux (Illustrator, and creator of Camera Man zine). Nathan and Jack met at university where they bonded and kept annoying each other with lots of cool comics to read. One day Nathan wanted to create something that could allow people like Jack who make cool comics, to show off their work in. And so, with a bit of elbow grease, clever thinking, and help from the University of Worcester and Worcestershire Arts Partnership, with support from the Elmley Foundation, Nathan came up with the Hotel Anthology idea. And a couple of months later he'd also banded together a group of excited artists who all wanted in on the action! They are now extremely excited and proud to put this magazine out into the world!
The comic itself is going to be printed as a limited colour pallet through a Risograph printer with dimensions of 210mm x 148mm x 15mm (basically A5 landscape in orientation). What we mean by Risograph printed is that like a screen print the artists can overlap colours to get a variety of shades and tones. Risographs also have a tendency on occasion to become slightly misaligned when being printed, a characteristic that adds personality to each book and will make them all slightly different and unique. We will be using the Birmingham based Rope Press to do our printing, and the three colours that the artists have used are Red, Yellow, and Green.
Hotel Anthology has been recommended an age rating of Older Teen. Read on for further details about the book, participating artists, and the rewards! If you want even more info and sneak peaks then check out the official twitter: https://twitter.com/Hotel_Anthology

Below are just some of the artists involved in this project. We have 14 in total, and each one is an amazing practitioner in their field!
The artists of the Hotel Anthology are illustrators, animators, designers, children's book writers, comic drawers, poets and more! The anthology is full of extremely talented up-and-coming artists to look out for too! All the artists in this anthology have put a lot of hard work into crafting not only visually stunning, but fun and inspiring stories.
The comics will be completed by the middle of February. Once they're done and have been spell checked, checked for errors, and set out correctly, they will be sent to the lovely people at Rope Press to be Risograph printed! To ensure that this becomes a reality though we need YOU to help us (even if its just a tiny bit). We also want to compensate the artists not only monetarily, but with their own copies of the book! So when its all printed and the costs are sorted out, and the rewards sent out, the artists will each receive a bundle of books and goodies to keep, and a portion of the profits.
We hope to make this a recurring magazine. So depending on the amount of profit made a large portion of it may go back into producing the next instalment! If not enough is raised then it will be fairly distributed amongst everyone who participated!
Of the books that aren't sold through Kickstarter they will be distributed out to small books shops across the UK, and be sold at comic cons also across the UK! (Dates and locations of which will be posted on the Twitter and Facebook pages)
To make a zine of such high quality as this takes a lot of hard work. That said, we are confident in our artists and you that together we will make these books come to life!
Help us make the Hotel Anthology Magazine a reality! Check-in to a room and find out how creative artists can be as they explore what really goes on behind the closed doors of a holiday destination!
Our rewards include a special thanks on Twitter, a PDF copy of the books, hand printed postcards and posters, the book itself, and even more special items which will be unlocked once we reach our goal!
Now that the project has been successfully funded we'd also like to introduce to you our lovely selection of....

This chart represents the cost of making & shipping the books and rewards after Kickstarter fees. Profit raised beyond the cost of producing the rewards will be going to our artists and possibly into funding the production of the next magazine!
A part of the funding is already coming from the University of Worcester and Worcestershire Arts Partnership, with support from the Elmley Foundation. But what they're contributing towards this project isn't enough to fully fund and distribute this magazine to everyone that we would like it to reach. Which is why we need YOUR help to make this a success!
Nathan graduated from university not too long ago and has grand aspirations about creating a platform for many creative people to share and showcase their work. Jack is someone who has been out of university for a much longer time and regularly creates comics and zines of the most ludicrous of natures! What started out as Nathan planning a collaborative experience grew and evolved into what you now see as the Hotel Anthology Magazine. He has been planning this for over a year and has only really gotten Jack and other artists involved in it over the past 6 months. Both Nathan and Jack feel strongly about there being a need for a platform where artists and comic creators can showcase their work especially for those who are newly starting in the field. Both Nathan and Jack have previous experience in comic anthology self publishing, and are very excited about creating the best comics anthology they can with and for their fellow art peers on the Hotel Anthology Magazine.
Risks and challenges
We've held up on kickstarting until we had nearly everything ready. We're working with Rope Press and the University of Worcester and Worcestershire Arts Partnership, with support from the Elmley Foundation to help make sure that all costs are accounted for and that the printing goes as smoothly as it can whilst also producing the best of work!
Provided the project gets funded then we're confident that we'll get the project to you within a timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
