About

Erase

After the massacre in Newtown, CT, I was left with need to do something to help. That help could prevent more violence or simply console and support the victims, I didnt need to know it would work I just needed to do something. I have created Erase to enter into a large arts festival in Grand Rapids Michigan, called ArtPrize. I felt the larger the arena I launched this in the better. ArtPrize gets over 500,000 visits in 3 weeks and makes national press. What I hope to do is create something that will keep the conversation going, and it already has.

Through social media, articles have been written about Erase and the Boston Globe is doing a piece on it. Living Room Across America, launched by Mike de la Rocha has contacted me to collaborate with them on more work like Erase. I am hoping to raise money for materials, construction and travel. Your support will help me to continue donating my ideas and time to help stop gun violence.

Risks and challenges

My deadline for completion and installation is September 9, 2013. The project is a work in progress for 3 weeks after completion. I will need to be available for any changes or unexpected mishaps to the artwork itself along with maintaining the GoPro and eraser dust. I hope to get some victims relatives to be the first to erase, if I am fortunate enough to do this, I may possibly need to offer airfare and travel accommodations for them.
