About

Hello,

I want to start off with a thank you for checking out my campaign. I recently graduated from SFSU and am looking forward to embarking on my new career as an apparel designer. Quickly I’ve realized that I can't do it alone and am asking anyone who can help, for help. I have a fashion show coming up early March, where I am hoping to launch my line and bring it into production for the first time. Some might think why not wait until I am more financially stable, but opportunities aren't always guaranteed and I just can't let this opportunity pass me by without trying in every way that I can. My life has consisted of me doing for others and always putting my dreams and goals aside to help my single mother manage her life and the life of my three younger siblings. Being second oldest of six, I naturally jumped into the mothering role and have made a significant difference on the lives of my siblings for the better. My siblings have grown up to be amazing people and are now getting ready to move on with there lives, as they finish school and move on to college. So now its time for me to let go and live life for only myself for the first time: by doing something that brings my life so much joy and appreciation. I have always been extremely determined and when things get tough I have only learned that I can be tougher; and things that my family and I have endured have been tough. There is not one thing in my life that I have committed myself to that I have yet to accomplished. A few of my proudest accomplishments have been participating in a Miss US pageant, being the first to graduate college of my entire family including uncles, aunts cousins and so on and producing my own charity fashion show. All of these things took incredible amounts of will power and self drive. One of my biggest joys in life is to give others happiness. Which is why I created the company called Designing A Difference, which is based on local and student designers, designing to make a difference by using there skills to impact and improve the community. I produced my first charity fashion show last February, which was a huge success with a sold out venue. As you can see I am extremely self motivated and really want to produce my own line but I need help. To produce a line I need money, to buy fabric and pay for the production cost. I’m going to start with small quantities simply because I’m the first to say I’m learning and have to take baby steps.  When I applied for the show I was in a much better financial position, but as we all know life can throw you curve balls but I refuse to let hurdles in life determine my life and am more motivated now, than I have ever been before. If you can support and contribute that would be amazing and I will be forever grateful. Any amount is incredible and beyond appreciated. This is just the beginning for me and I will continue to grow and find new ways to share my success.

Risks and challenges

Being an apparel designer is always a challenge and a tremendous risk, apparel designers struggle from a day to day basis but what separates the successful designers is their determination and drive. In order to become successful you must work extremely hard every day and be willing to put yourself in a vulnerable position and take a risk with everything you have. I have been working at this for several years and know that I am ready for the next step which is going into production. I have achieved every goal of my life so far and this is my next challenge.
