My work talks about the art of listening from a prose/ essay angle. There are lots of how-to-listen-better books out there and most of them address the things you need to do to be a better listener. As you're becoming a better listener, artistic essays like these on my blog are the kind of thing you can meditate on.
You may be a professional coach or other person who is expected to motivate people: a speaker, pastor, or whatever. Chances are you think that what you SAY will motivate people (and that's not untrue) but it's often what you hear before you say anything that makes the biggest difference.
You may also just be a dad or mom, a husband or wife, who wants to have a stronger family life. You want to be in tune with what your family or friends are saying. You may be a business owner with a few employees or thousands, or an entrepreneur who must listen if they want to sell.
If you want to be artful in listening, to return energy to someone when they're talking, to hear not only the words but the spirit and soul of what's being said, this book is for you. You may have to slow down and take this book in over the course of a year, but you're going to get something out of it -- if you read it slowly! Thanks for considering backing me as I write this thing in the summer of 2015. --Adam G. Fleming
Risks and challenges
There aren't very many risks this time around. I've completed one book (available on Amazon: White Buffalo Gold by Adam G. Fleming) and this time I have a publisher, so the editing and design is taken care of. A good portion of the content is created (see my blog at www.adamgfleming.com for a preview, though these blog articles are rough in comparison to what you'll be getting with this book. This Kickstarter is for pre-sales and will create the advance cash I need to spend a lot of time writing this summer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
