About this project
King Con Gaming Convention
November 2nd 2013
Hi, my name is Jason Hurst, owner and founder of Two Kings Games. Two Kings Games is going to be bringing your first full-fledged gaming convention to the Warner Robins/Macon, GA area! In order to do this, though, I need your help.
Running a gaming convention isn't cheap or easy, so what better way to fund this project than use Kickstarter?
As of right now, the convention is scheduled for one day: Saturday, November 2nd 2013. As more money is raised, we will expand the dates to Sunday, Friday, and even Thursday of that same weekend. It'll all be up to you, the gamers, to decide how small or large this Con will end up.
All Backers Receive Free VIP Status!
With only ten days left on the King Con Kickstarter and in order to help push the Kickstarter over the edge, we've decided to award all backers instant VIP status to King Con. What does this mean?
- Special VIP Access - No waiting in lines!
- Half off all paid events
- Reserved front row seating on any keynotes, panels, events, etc
- A special Invite to the post-con party
King Con T-shirt Update!
Through a change in T-shirt distributers, we are now able to offer T-shirt sizes from small all the way up to XXXL. Unfortunately Kickstarter won't let me change the reward descriptions at this point, but if you pick a reward level with a T-shirt, you will get the chance to receive the larger sizes. Huzzah!
King Con Sponsor Rallies
We're bringing some new and exciting items to the King Con Kickstarter. Sponsor Rallies are unlockable items that we'll uncover once we hit a funding rate. When the Kickstarter succeeds, every King Con backer ($10 or above) will receive a free gift from one of our sponsors.
Once we hit the rally goal, the gift will be unlocked and revealed below!

- Getting kids involved in trying out imaginative games.
- Emphasizing deeper character development.
- Making it easy to run and vary solo and team RPG gameplay.
- Turning players into GMs - and GMs into games designers.
- Offering GMs the means to rapidly create custom campaigns.
- Building more player choice into adventures and campaigns.
You can find more info about the book on the Thistle Games website here: http://thistlegames.com/thistle/
Rally Goal 3: Brave Halfling Publishing $1000 - Reached!
Both Adventures are designed for the OSRIC game system, an highly popular AD&D 1E clone.
Temple of Baalzebul
Several centuries past, a shadowy sect sought to enslave the world in the name of their dark lord, Baalzebul, one of the arch devils of Hell. They carved out a massive subterranean temple deep in the heart of a dense, forbidding forest to base their operations. The clerics of Tyr, God of War and Justice, were eventually able to assemble a host of holy warriors to raid the temple, and managed to destroy most of the wicked followers of Lord Baalzebul before their darksome ambitions could be fully realized. Or so they thought. Cut to the present: A company of clerics calling themselves the Order of the Black Lotus have journeyed to the evil fane with the intent of reviving the forgotten cult of Baalzebul. They are surprised to discover that many of the followers of the arch devil survived the raid, afterwards performing the necessary rites to merge with the Negative Material Plane so as to unnaturally extend their lifespans. It is up to you to see that they don't fully unite with the undead servants of Baalzebul, unleashing the arch devil's horde upon an unsuspecting world.
This product is designed for 4-6 player characters of levels 13-15, and contains a detailed key and maps to the sprawling three level underground Temple of Baalzebul. Also includes a new spell, a new monster, and rules for the worship of the arch devil Baalzebul.
The People of the Pit
Several millennia back, the peoples of the mighty Kingdom of Merritt entered into all-out war with their long-time nemesis, the People of the Pit, a nefarious race of slug-like creatures hailing from a vast subterranean city lying on their northern border. Though the battle was hard fought, with both sides initially incurring heavy losses, the Merrittians in due course gained the upper hand, almost wholly exterminating their foe. Even the very god of the People of Pit was banished to the lower planes by a cabal of Merrittian magic-users and clerics, or so they thought. Recently, the evil within the city of the People of the Pit has surged yet again, and it is up to you to see that it doesn't spill out into the surrounding lands.
"People of the Pit" was designed to be run with a minimum of preparation, and can be integrated into the Game Master's home campaign with little effort. Even though the adventure is designed for 4-6 players of levels 5-7, it can easily be modified to suit lower and higher level parties with the NPC tables in the appendix. It contains 41 pages of text, 12 pieces of original art, 4 new monsters and 5 pages of maps.
This is a living project. This means that nothing is for certain. A lot depends on you, our backers. Because of this, we're going to list events that not only do we hope to have, but are planning for, if space and money permits:
- Magic: The Gathering tournament
- Costume contest
- Miniature painting contest
- Dungeons & Dragons games
- D4: Basic demos
- Pathfinder Society game(s)
These events listed are only official events that we're working toward. What games that are actually going to be played are up to you! We have opened up event signups on our webpage. Because of this, you can use our convention to play almost any game you're interested in. Here's a list of the type of games we're expecting:
- Board Games (All Types!)
- Card Games (All Types!)
- Role-playing Games (All Types!)
Event signups can be found: Here
(Please note that you must be a backer or a ticket holder in order to have your event scheduled!)
If you don't submit or get a chance to sign up for an event, don't fret! We will have tables set aside for on the spot gaming, but keep in mind, these tables be at a first come, first served basis.
Stretch Goal 1: Ammar's Secret Art Backer Level - $5,000
If we reach $5,000, Two Kings Games artist, Ammar Al-Chalabi, has agreed to unlock a secret backer level! This $100 backer level will include everything in the $70 "More-Stylin' Gamers" level plus a custom full-color, high-resolution rendition of either a gaming player character or monster (described by you!).
Here is an example of Ammar's great art!
Stretch Goal 2: Sunday Gaming - $7,000
If we reach $7,000, we will extend King Con to another day making the Con last Saturday and Sunday (November 2-3). Once this is done, new backer levels will be added to allow backers to upgrade their tickets to add the extra day!
Stretch Goal 3: Two Kings Games' Artist Appearance - $8,000
If we're able to bring in $8,000, we'll fly in Artist Ammar Al-Chalabi to attend the King Con. Ammar has agreed to spend at least half a day to hand out free scetches to King Con attendees. (First come, first served. The time and days are TBD)
Stretch Goal 4: Fri-Sun Gaming - $15,000
If we reach $15,000, we will start King Con on Friday and have it last through Sunday (November 1-3), giving us 3 whole days of gaming fun! Once this is done, new backer levels will be added to allow backers to upgrade their tickets to add the extra days!
Stretch Goal 5: Thurs-Sun Gaming - $18,800
If we reach $18,800, we will extend King Con to four days of gaming goodness! Making the Con last from Thursday through Sunday (October 31-November 3). Once this is done, new backer levels will be added to allow backers to upgrade their tickets to add the extra days!
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge of a con is getting everything put together in time for the event. In order to try and solve this, sometimes overwhelming, fact we plan on trying to grow the con as organically as we can.
In other words, we aren't going to put our cart before our horse. As more and more people show interest in the con, we will move forward once we have volunteers to help out. The convention will end up what it is and what we can handle. There's nothing lost in having a small homely convention (although we're not going to limit ourselves if it can be helped!).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Due to our limited staff we graciously ask that you pick your shirt up at the day of the convention. That aside, if you still want your shirt mailed to you. Please add $5 to your pledge for shipping. Note that the "I-Wish-I-Could-Go! Gamer" and the "I-Just-Wanna-Help-Out" backer levels already include shipping and don't require the extra $5 pledge.
