Morsels of Madness: An expansion for Feed the Shoggoth!
Morsels of Madness brings new Spells, Artifacts, Cult Factions, and (you guessed it) new Minions to Feed the Shoggoth!.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Wed, February 13 2019 8:20 PM UTC +00:00.
WE'RE FUNDED!!! Thanks, everyone, who have pledged so far to make this expansion a reality. Now let's see how many stretch goals we can unlock!
A Note on shipping costs: Please see Update #1 for more detais on this, but in short, Kickstarter will charge you a different amount for shipping than what is listed on this page and the shipping chart. THIS IS WRONG. At the end of the Kickstarter, I will reimburse everyone the difference in shipping costs. If you should be charged only $3 for shipping and are getting dinged $10 instead, you will get back $7 once the Kickstarter is over.
Hello, fellow pseudopods! In 2015, we released our first card game, Feed the Shoggoth! (you can find out more about the game here). And now, we're proud to announce the first expansion-Feed the Shoggoth!: Morsels of Madness!
Feed the Shoggoth!: Morsels of Madness will include 42 cards, featuring:
- New Cult Factions
- New Artifacts
- New Spells
- New Minions
- Rules Summaries
Wait...did you say "New Minions"?
That's right! In the core game, Minions give a Cult Leader one point when they're fed to the Shoggoth. But in Morsels of Madness, you'll experience the joys of stuffing such Minions down the Shoggoth's gullet as:
The Insane Minion
In addition to giving you a point, sacrificing the Insane Minion allows you to put the Shoggoth in front of any other Cult Leader!
The Re-Animated Minion
When you Sacrifice this Minion, you'll gain a point, and then put him back in your hand to be fed to the Shoggoth a second time!
The Child of Yig Minion
Sacrificing this particularly evil Minion doesn't give you a point, but all other Cult Leaders lose a point!
...and there are a couple more that we'll keep as a surprise. :)
Some other cards in the Expansion include...
Twice the Shoggoth fun
Among the new Spells in the expansion, we want to shine the spotlight on one in particular, and that is the Shoggoth Frenzy spell. This spell will summon a second Shoggoth onto the table, and behave just like the first one! You will have to feed both Shoggoths if they're in front of you, and if you want (or need!) to move both, you'll have to burn Spells or Artifacts for each one. Needless to say, this cranks up the gameplay in unexpected ways!
If you missed the first Kickstarter and don't have a copy of the core game, don't fret! You can pledge at the Willing Sacrifice level and get both the original game plus the expansion. Or you can head over to feedtheshoggoth.com to order a copy!
Given that this is a supplement for an existing game, we're keeping stretch goals and add-ons to a minimum so we can focus on the core product. But we do want to offer some extras to enhance your experiences with Feed the Shoggoth!:
The Expansion ($10 +$3 shipping to US-see chart for international shipping): You'll get a copy of the expansion!
The Expansion and a Shoggoth mini-mini ($20 +$4 shipping to US-see chart for international shipping): Designed by Jason McKittrick, these devilish little miniatures are just the things you'll need when you have more than one Shoggoth rampaging around the table...or you want to have some spiffy-looking Shoggoth mini-minis to have around the house. We'll have them available in four different colors: Blasphemous Bronze, Putrid Purple, Baleful Black, and Grotesque Green!
The Expansion and the Core Game ($30 +$7 shipping to US-see chart for international shipping): Did you miss out on the first Kickstarter, and want to get caught up? Get both at once!
The Expansion and all four Shoggoth mini-minis ($50 +$4 shipping to US-see chart for international shipping): Why just get one mini-mini when you can collect all four?
The Expansion and Storage Box ($100 +$10 shipping to US-see chart for international shipping): A brand new storage box designed by Jason McKittrick, with enough room to stash all of your cards, plus a separate compartment for score counters, minis, candy, dead beetles, nightgaunt horns, or whatever else you can fit in it.
If you simply can't resist the temptation to have all four shoggoth mini-minis, don't fret! At the WILLING SACRIFICE level or higher, just add $40 to your pledge (plus $4 for shipping), and we'll include them for you! Or if you're still missing the core game itself, add $20 to your pledge at any pledge level (plus $4 shipping), and we'll send that along!
When making your pledge, please consult from the chart below and add the appropriate amount to your pledge to cover shipping costs:
Please note that these shipping charges may change slightly if certain stretch goals are met.

Risks and challenges
As of this writing, the rules for the expansion cards have been play tested and finalized. The artwork is more than half completed, and will be finished the next couple of months.
This will be our second Kickstarter, so we now have experience under out belt. There is always the possibility of unforeseen circumstances affecting the progress of the Kickstarter, just like any other project, but this expansion is small and easily manageable, with not a lot of moving parts to it.
